I'm not sure when or where but apparently this is how people used to drink tea or coffee, from a saucer. Is this true?

@Vivie1508 I've since found out that people who poured their hot drink in to the saucer did so to cool it down quicker, making it easier to drink.

Apparently this was quite normal, people would stop half way through a long car journey for a roadside picnic. Here we are on the A1 just outside Sheffield (1968)
