Rare #metaldetecting find from Ukrainian: 🇺🇦 #Silver drachm from the ancient Greek colony of Istria (modern Romania), 4th century BC. On the #coin - Castor and Pollux (Dioscuri), the famous twin brothers from Greek mythology.

Beautiful little #hoard discovered in Ukraine: 🇺🇦 a tiny pot with 140 #silver coins from the Crimean Khanate, minted under Khan Mengli Giray I in the 1480s. Found just 40 cm deep near Flora village, Podilsk district, next to the Yagorlyk river. Likely hidden during Tatar raids. Nice piece of history! #metaldetecting

Ukrainian #metaldetecting find: 🇺🇦 Beautiful bronze lunar pendant from the Early Iron Age. Classic moon-shaped amulet from the forest-steppe tribes of Ukraine (~800–300 BC). 🌙 Powerful protective symbol of that time. #friday #history

@Sagnamadr I think it's Milograd or Chornolis culture rather than Koban. The style doesn't really match Koban in my opinion.

@mclo_Bridger It depends. Some sell, some keep for their personal collection, and some trade with other detectorists.

@_Treasure_Kings So this is legal in the uk? Highly regulated in sweden, multiple permits needed to use detectors precisely because of this.

@BraneDamaged Most likely lost during a battle or skirmish. Swords were expensive, so people didn’t just drop them for no reason. As far as I know, no human remains were found near the sword, so the owner probably survived and just lost his weapon in the chaos.

@_Treasure_Kings Wonder what happened today the owner. Those things were pretty valuable back in the day, no? Did he die there, lose it while running from someone?

Ukrainian 🇺🇦 detectorist Serhiy Tkach with tears in his eyes: Rare #gold aureus of Trajan Decius (249–251 AD) found with a hole - once worn as a pendant. Sadly, agricultural machinery later damaged part of the #coin. Still an incredibly rare piece... heartbreaking story. 💔💰 #metaldetecting

Today’s nice #treasurehunting from Ukraine 🇺🇦: Andriy Koznyuk found several Roman #silver denarii and a #gold ring from the Chernyakhiv culture (3rd–5th c. AD). Silver + gold in one hunt - not bad at all. 💰✨

Silver dirham from the Abbasid Caliphate found in Denmark 🇩🇰 by detectorist Troels Angler Taylor. #metaldetecting A real piece of Viking Age trade - proof that Vikings were trading far into the Arab world over 1000 years ago. 💰⚔️ These Arabic #silver #coins are classic finds in Scandinavia. Can anyone help identify the exact ruler and minting date? Thanx

Cool Ukrainian 🇺🇦 find: Stone pectoral cross from Kyivan Rus' era with #silver ends and top mount. Simple stone body + nice silver decoration - typical 11th–13th century #Christian amulet. #metaldetecting

Nice Ukrainian #metaldetecting find: 🇺🇦 Silver #torc (neck hryvnia) from the Penkivka culture - early Slavic, 6th–7th century AD. Twisted #silver neck ring with classic hook terminals. Simple, heavy and very elegant.
