Beautiful little #hoard discovered in Ukraine: 🇺🇦 a tiny pot with 140 #silver coins from the Crimean Khanate, minted under Khan Mengli Giray I in the 1480s. Found just 40 cm deep near Flora village, Podilsk district, next to the Yagorlyk river. Likely hidden during Tatar raids. Nice piece of history! #metaldetecting

@Sagnamadr I think it's Milograd or Chornolis culture rather than Koban. The style doesn't really match Koban in my opinion.

@mclo_Bridger It depends. Some sell, some keep for their personal collection, and some trade with other detectorists.

@BraneDamaged Most likely lost during a battle or skirmish. Swords were expensive, so people didn’t just drop them for no reason. As far as I know, no human remains were found near the sword, so the owner probably survived and just lost his weapon in the chaos.

@_Treasure_Kings Wonder what happened today the owner. Those things were pretty valuable back in the day, no? Did he die there, lose it while running from someone?
