An enjoyable week of both live and virtual delivery here at WWPIS with both myself and Sarah Murray delivering sessions across a range of sports. Great to work with coaches and programme managers at British Sailing Clubs and to deliver our final session of the year with Warwickshire County Cricket Club parents, which has been a resounding success with so much positive feedback from parents. Our 'Fast Cars; Poor Brakes - Sports Parenting the Teenage Brain' session is becoming increasingly popular and Sarah was at Southampton FC delivering this session to parents this week along with a virtual session with Camden Swiss Cottage Swimming Club. Our work and partnership with League Football Education continues to have such a huge impact and it was great to be back delivering with both Lincoln City and Bradford City this week. There has been so much progress in this space in recent seasons and credit to the clubs, player care officers, coaches and Heads of Education who in many environments are placing a real value on this piece of work. And last but not least we delivered for the first time to parents at Colwyn Bay Athletics Club - a testament to how far this work is spreading but more importantly for us here that it remains affordable to those who wish to engage and benefit their communities.

BLOG - 'How to fuel around Game Days, Tournaments, and Busy Schedules' Game days and tournament weekends can make nutrition feel a bit chaotic. Early starts, travel, nerves, back-to-back games/races, often with only short breaks in between, can lead to skipped meals and inadequate fuelling, at a time when fuelling needs are greatest. parentsinsport.co.uk/2026/02/09/how…

'Last chance to pre-order before we launch' We launch in just days — and if you haven't pre-ordered your copy of 'How to Feed a Young Athlete' yet, now is the time. We wrote this book because we believe nutrition is sport's unsung hero and too many talented young athletes are being held back not by their training, but by what's (or isn't) on their plate. Whether your child is a weekend footballer or a competitive swimmer, what they eat directly impacts: •Their energy levels at training and on match day •How well they recover both physically and mentally •Their mood, focus and growth •Their long-term health and relationship with food This book gives you the knowledge, confidence, and tools to make a real difference without turning your kitchen into a science laboratory or a war zone with your kids. WWPIS Hit List – ‘Sporting films, books, autobiographies and documentaries’ Recently, we asked the following question to the WWPIS Community. What is your favourite sporting film? What is your favourite sporting book? What is your favourite sporting autobiography? What is your favourite sporting documentary? The response was incredible and we have created a list below for all of you to work your way through and share with other people. Obviously check the age ratings of the films and documentaries if you are watching with your children. All of the below can act as a real inspiration for you and your young people, whilst helping us as parents to instigate and shape powerful conversations and also provide a wider understanding of the sporting journey and landscape. parentsinsport.co.uk/2023/06/03/spo…

'THE 7 DAY COUNTDOWN IS ON' We have just heard that printed copies of our new book 'How to Feed a Young Athlete' will be with us on the 19th March and will be immediately dispatched to those who have already ordered. If you haven't pre-ordered your copy yet, now is the time. This handbook was written for every sports parent who has ever wondered if they're getting the nutrition piece right. Short answer: with this book, you will be. It is built from thousands of conversations with parents of young athletes. We’ve listened to all their questions, challenges, frustrations and wins and created a toolkit. You’ll find practical answers and actionable solutions to the nutrition challenges every parent faces, complete with interviews with parents of elite level young athletes and exercises to try. Talent and training absolutely matter, but what children eat directly impacts their energy, recovery, mood, development and performance, whether they’re on the field, in the classroom, or at home. Nutrition really is sport’s unsung hero, and this toolkit is part of our mission to change that. Featuring unique insights and nutritional tips from parents of high performing athletes.
