@LadePlatinum Couple of big StockX resellers expressed their concerns over connection between him and StockX. Those has been forwarded to the StockX PR dept.
if i cosign a scammer and niggas get finessed i’m going in my pockets and paying everyone back even if i go broke
reputation > money
sneakerphetish doesn’t get that which is why his rep is in the mud and why stockx treats him like a two dollar hoe instead of a businessman
Explainer on my part of the Awake Link Scammer Twitter Spaces
There's some confusion and gaslighting about what I said in this Twitter space last night. SneakerPhetish has always said, if anyone has any issues, they are welcome to join these Spaces and take a mic on a stage.
I had a simple question for Kari: does he regret his part of endorsing someone who ended up being a scammer, and would he apologize? To this point, everyone had danced around this topic of endorsement, so I asked directly. For this, I've been accused of stirring the pot and causing trouble.
I know he didn't knowingly endorse a scammer, and I know he's not fully responsible for someone else handing over their own money to someone. But he said she's "good people" and others seemingly saw this endorsement and proceeded to send her money.
When I asked, others started to chime in and answer for him. There was some regrettable name calling in this part, but again I wasn't asking them and told them to mind their own business. I was asking Kari a direct question and that they should let him answer himself. I honestly thought the question was a layup.
Kari's answer at first was to pivot to other times we've had issues. But I kept circling back and asked again directly if he regrets his endorsement. At one point there was complete silence to the question. But eventually he did say he does regret it.
After that I left and people were apparently talking shit about me, but others did back me up that yes, they were hit up if the scammer was legit because they saw Kari's endorsement.
Later on the scammer herself was given the stage and she said she's close with Kari. And near the end, I've been told Kari did a longer apology. I wasn't around for that, but that's great if he did.
I understand this is the Tribalism Era and if you're called on to fight, you fight no matter what. I don't want any part of a Sneaker Tribalism War over this shit. I don't want subtweets about me every Sunday morning for 2 years about this shit. If someone no longer likes me over this, that's fine, I understand. I don't have any issue with Kari or people who support him. As far as I'm concerned, this is over. I asked a question and it was eventually answered.
@karidaniels People want to see the other 3 over 'women in sneakers' doesn't mean people hate women.
Stop Twisting the Words. This makes you look dumb.
@EQLofficial Yea for sure. W a lot with EQL so far and also a good reason no longer need to spend time on raffle botting. Love being a EQL+ subscriber!
@_WallaceHK When did I say that story is “way more important” than design? I remember saying design matters & accepting that it matters more than story. I can show you that tweet if you’d like to see.
So here’s the deal: I am not Brendan & it would be the highest level of delusion to think I could “compete” with him for a job with his resumé, especially at that level at StockX. When the company flew me to Detroit, the conversations did center around “humanizing” the company & I spoke to that many times on the timeline. I championed the company to get you all to see them as more than how they were perceived & I don’t regret that. I spoke with the execs about community engagement & how to connect more deeply with the people. The idea of having a trusted face of the culture spearheading those efforts was a topic we discussed & it seems that’s exactly what they’ve done. I believed in what the company was doing & felt it would be beneficial to put someone in position that could amplify that & build on it. I was not told anything about this position or that there was a position they were thinking about creating. I believe Brendan will usher in a new era for the company. Think “Man on the Street” video coverage at events like ComplexCon, etc plus deeper journalism for their editorials, not to mention amplification of their philanthropic efforts as well. Maybe they’ll take my advice of adding video content to the app to keep people on it longer too. Time will tell. To answer the questions I’m getting all morning, Do I feel played? Yeah…a little, but hey. Business is business. Lessons learned about giving away too much for virtually nothing in return. That’s on me. Do my feelings have anything to do with Brendan being chosen? Not at all. I think he’s a great choice & I wish him the very best. All love. See you in the next space.
@karidaniels Keep telling the story of the shoes - you are doing quite well on that part. And stop saying story is way more important than the design - let your audience judge themselves. Don't always play gender/race card. And if you want to save words then don't say anything.
@karidaniels You as a content creator is working hard. But the approach you took is not what I like and it's turning me away on app if seeing your video. Hence as a nasty reseller doing decent volume on StockX I expressed my concerns of your involvement on the platform to their team.
@SnkrsStock I was immediately put in line on the Metallic 5’s and I was on it as soon as they went live. This shit was fake as hell cuz why was I put in line? Why couldn’t I checkout if I was already submitting purchase while they were still in stock.
