GRRM doesn't need my permission, or yours. But he clearly feels pressure from *us to finish TWOW, and that is slowing his progress.
So here it is ... if GRRM announces that he is taking a break from Winds to write more Dunk and Egg stories, or Blood and Fire, I will 100% support that.
At the moment he is producing *no new stories because of pressure to finish 1 of his projects. Let's take him at his word and support him to produce other things if that's what he wants to do (which, he thinks, will lead to TWOW sooner as well!)

"I have to write more Dunk and Egg. There’s supposed to be another Fire and Blood book, too. I do think if I can just get some of these other things off my back, I could finish The Winds of Winter pretty soon. It’s been made clear to me that Winds is the priority, but … I don’t know. Sometimes I’m not in the mood for that" This adds to my belief that we will get more Dunk and Egg, r maybe even Blood and Fire before TWOW. He seems to find those a lot easier to write.
