According to witnesses Austin Metcalf pushed Anthony, some say multiple times, before being stabbed. Chud says he was punched before the shooting. • Both Chud and Anthony face serious charges. Eatherly charged with attempted murder. Anthony charged with murder. These are the core facts of the cases. The verbal start, a threat/challenge involving a hidden weapon and both reaching for said weapon, physical engagement by the other person, use of lethal force in claimed response, and resulting charges with self-defense assertions. Differences exist in weapon type (gun vs. knife), outcome (injury vs. death), ages, prior histories, and exact proportionality debates, but the shared pattern of escalation is what has driven public comparisons between the two cases. And I can already hear the excuse. So let’s address it. Anthony was allegedly TOLD by an adult to go to the tent because a storm was approaching. Metcalf had no authority to determine who sat there.
