The problem with most of today's bookings is the fact that deep down we already know who the winner is.

Have we considered that since toph was the first person to actually do it and had a limited time with it she couldn't do anything with metal without first being close or making contact and than once she got better at it she could manipulate it better from his knowing it's there.

This scene is a good example of my issue with metalbending in Korra. In the original series, Toph had to be in physical contact with the metal, because it was much harder to bend than actual earth, because she was bending the impurities within it. Meanwhile, the metal bending in Korra is basically the opposite, they actually bend with far more precision than anyone bends earth with, which doesn't make any sense. It's kinda in the same vein as the lavabending, where instead of applying any actual logic to it, they treated the bending as pure sorcery. Korra doesn't learn it from anyone, she just has it, because she has more Bending Midiclorians than everyone else, I guess.

As cool as the #WeWantKairi thing is, it’s kinda similar to when an artist passes away and everyone listens to their music because they’re the main character of the day. If all this unified support existed while she was active she might still be there, but it didn’t
