Question for epidemiologists and microbiologists: if Cyclospora is transmitted fecal-orally by oocycts in contaminated food and water, and there’s a large outbreak of people passing stool into the municipal water system, and municipal water treatment isn’t effective against the parasite, and 10 oocysts can be an infectious dose, at what point do we have to start boiling our water?
