마크: 오늘 이 자리에 함께하게 되어 영광입니다. 저를 세계 환경의 날 행사에, 그리고 이곳 바쿠 아제르바이잔에 초대해 주셔서 정말 감사합니다. 정말 아름다운 도시네요. 여러분께 노래를 들려드리기 전에, 짧은 이야기를 하나 하고 싶습니다. 저는 올해 초 케냐에 방문했습니다. 그 당시 저는 제 인생에서 아주 중요한 시기를 보내고 있었어요. 제 커리어와 삶에 있어 매우 중요한 결정을 내려야 했거든요. 많은 사람들이 저에게 조언을 해주었고, 제가 답을 알지 못하는 질문들을 던졌습니다. 그래서 조금은 낯설고 혼란스러운 시간을 보내고 있었죠. 그런데 저는 케냐에 가게 되었고 사파리에 가게 되었습니다. 그곳에서 정말 아름다운 동물들을 많이 보았어요.. lion도 보았고요 그 순간 저는 문득 깨달았습니다. 때로는 모든 질문의 답을 아는 것이 그렇게 중요하지 않을 수도 있다는 것을요. 또 모든 것에 완벽하게 준비되어 있는지도 중요하지 않을 수 있다는 것을요. 중요한 것은 진정한 변화를 위해 다음 걸음을 내딛을 의지가 있느냐는 것이라는 사실을요. 그래서 저는 케냐에서 이 노래를 만들었습니다. 제목은 Ready or Not입니다. 그리고 제가 맞게 이해하고 있다면, 그리고 우리 모두가 같은 메시지를 받고 있다면, 저는 우리 지구도 우리에게 똑같은 질문을 하고 있다고 믿습니다. 우리가 준비되었는지를 묻는 것이 아니라, 우리의 목소리를 내고 한 걸음을 내디딜 의지가 있는지를 묻고 있다고 생각합니다. 진정한 변화를 위해 관심을 가질 의지가 있는지를요. 저는 우리 모두의 영혼이 더 나은 세상을 갈망하고 있다고 믿습니다. 그리고 그것이야말로 모두를 위한 더 나은 세상이 존재할 수 있다는 가장 진실한 증거 중 하나라고 생각합니다. 그래서 이 노래의 제목은 ‘Ready or Not’입니다. 잘 즐겨주셨음 좋겠습니다.
