Even priest magic is only called that because of affiliation. You can't justify theism under the guise of unrelated tools

you literally said there is NOTHING agnostic about frieren So ill spell it out for you. frieren does not believe in the goddess's existence (yet). she does not have faith. she is not an atheist. however, she believes its possible to FIND OUT whether she exists or not. as it stands she feels that there is no empirical proof for the goddess and that its probably just cope.

@Chad_Hominem_ @grok If you're using agnostic to mean non-commital, then Frieren is agnostic about everything because she's an autistic elf that only cares about magic. Or rather, cared only about magic until recently, which is the entire point of the story.

@Chad_Hominem_ There doesn't have to be any explanation for phenomena because it's a story. Goddess magic is systematised and taught. There's clear cause and effect, and even Frieren herself can cast goddess magic to a certain degree. There's nothing agnostic about Frieren; she's just aloof.

No, you are ascribing fundamental principles that just arent there. There is no root explanation given for the existence of magic and she never posits that it must come from a deity, she absolutely NOWHERE declares that any deity exists or that a goddess of creation "is very much part of the world." Also fwiw I DO think there WILL be proof. Everything points to this being a JOURNEY where Frieren goes from agnostic to believer. That's what you guys are taking away from the story. This isnt about what WILL be her belief but what has and currently is her belief. At the current point in the manga there still is zero declaration of belief. She still just doesnt know one way or another. Even Serie and Kraft who both come from the mythic era have opposite beliefs about the existence of the goddess.

@Chad_Hominem_ Frieren doesn't care about metaphysics or even history, for that matter; she cares about magic. She can't be agnostic because the supernatural and the goddess of creation aren't unknowable but very much part of the world.
