A life hack? Always prepare for, and hedge against the worst possible outcome.. But stack the deck to minimise its likelihood..

One of my main consistencies is that the next time you see me I’m always better than the last time. That’s on growth.

I came across an article about how Lee Kuan Yew planned & executed the transformation of Singapore. He says that before they took over the country was deeply entrenched in organised crime and corruption. In order to fight that, they made sure that the citizens had a stake in the national economy. He reasoned that people will not be as committed to something they do not have much stake in or had anything to lose. This has been my central assessment on how we start to turn Zambia around and I have written about this on my various posts. Others argue that we need to somehow raise the society's consciousness to aspire for higher values and build the economy on that foundation. I argue that if you do not show how any of this benefit the people to begin with, you are unlikely to enlist a wider societal buyin. Thus the key starts with the economy - get as many people as possible actively involved in the economy. Rather than asking them to not do something - show them something else that is better and once they buy into that alternative, they commit themselves to developing and protecting that way of life.

A Dostoyevsky line has never hit me so hard “You sensed that you should be following a different path, a more ambitious one, you felt that you were destined for other things but you had no idea how to achieve them and in your misery you began to hate everything around you”

i once read that the key to a happy life is to avoid as many permanent decisions as possible when you're young. that's one of the reasons why i never got tattoos or even considered it. trends come and go, youth is temporary, but once your frontal lobe develops you begin to see things more clearly and the fact of the matter is that nothing could ever be cooler or more beautiful than the skin that God gave you.

David f*cking Goggins, what a line… “When your entire day is fucked up, make sure that you achieve something positive before lights out. You’ll probably have to stay up a bit later to read, study, get a workout in, or clean the house. Whatever it takes to go to bed in the black, get it done.“

What’s a line from something you’ve read that you find yourself repeating in your head every now and then?

Thought about the coming election and... looking at the field, I see no one worth the next 5 years of my patriotism to this sinking ship.. And I'm not being pessimistic.. it's a clear-eyed assessment with consequences clear to every normal person..

@ssishuwa This is, I think exactly what John Sangwa discovered.. The systems. The people. Are so broken that even the idea of fixing is laughable.. IMO, the last election was our last expression of democracy as we've known it. What's coming? Leave if you can.

Zambia is a handout country, that's what being a third world country is, the fact that we have "a take it out of their pocket" leadership is absolutely ludicrous, every regulation designed to disadvantage the citizens, we're being oppressed by the machine we voted in. Shame.
