I’ve spent years in clinical practice diagnosing and working out why people can’t change behaviour.. Even when they know exactly what they should do. Traders have the same problem.

Please, don't see my posts as me lecturing you. Absorb what's useful and appeals to your logic. Discard the rest. Very simple.

Most traders don’t lack skill They lack control And that’s why they don’t get consistent payouts

Two problems most traders have 1. They don't have a system to trade. 2. Even if they do have a system , they don't stick to it. Now ask Yourself, which one are you?

@TradingInTheNow After years as a therapist, I think comparison is often a coping strategy. People project their insecurities onto others rather than deal with it head-on - And so they stay stuck in a cycle of negativity because it makes them feel better, so the behaviour repeats

"Spend so much time improving yourself that you have no time left to criticise others" I truly think that if more people adopted this thinking in the retail trading space, more people would make money.

The name of the game in trading is survival, not profits. And as you get good at survival, then the profits come. Few understand this...

@corymitc Thanks for sharing this - It's all down to behavior at the end of the day. Most traders don't ask themselves this - What behavior is helpful and unhelpful to the kind of trader I want to become?

Just an example, below. But beliefs play a much bigger role than most traders realize. They are trying to do one thing, but another part of themselves is sabotaging it.

Traders overcomplicate this stuff sooo much it's insane Trying to blend a million different concepts AI All this different stuff Yet somehow someone like me who isn't smart who isn't some mathematician is able to pull in 6 figure months doing the simplest stuff Let me let you in on a secret... Yes, you need to understand price Understand liquidity and market structure But the most important thing is probabilities Most NEVER understand that They will study charts allllllll day But fail because they don't understand probabilities I do understand SO I am able to stay consistent as a result

I’m looking to do some unscripted, unstructured interviews with traders on their psychology. Who would be interested in talking about their trading for 30-45mins?

But if you surround yourself with traders who demonstrate emotional stability, not reactivity, you'll also start to be influenced by that.

The foundational idea behind this is that emotions spread socially. If you're in trading communities where everyone panics during drawdowns or celebrates when green, you'll be influenced by that.

You are the average of the 5 people you listen to/spend time with. So does that help or hinder your trading? Here's how that occurs and what you can do about it:

The best part of coaching traders on their psychology is breaking down limiting beliefs and seeing the shift in their perspective

@MaferdCapital It’s never going to be easy bro. I say this as someone who only gained this clarity in my early thirties. Everything you do from here, do it with a 3 year commitment. That’s how long it takes to usually figure out whatever game you play and for the ‘newness’ to wear off fully

Hey guys, I’ve been inactive because of this. I’m really struggling with what to do with my life for the next years. It feels like I’m losing everything and that I’m wasting my time here. I don’t see the point to even look at the charts anymore. Why does it have to be so hard to build a good future for yourself and your family?

I am 25. I am Italian and I moved to Saudi Arabia two months ago. I am thinking about getting married and starting to invest into real estate, but my girlfriend doesn’t want to live and grow a family here. What should I do with my life?

When you take a trade outside criteria because "it might work," you're not being flexible, you're being impulsive Flexibility is adjusting strategy based on data over time, but Impulse is emotion seeking an outlet in the moment

Yesterday, I spoke with a trader who claimed breaking their rules was them being 'flexible and responsive' to the market. Here's how I responded:

Choice architecture (Thaler & Sunstein) and how it applies to your trading: The way choices are presented shapes decisions. If your platform makes it easy to adjust stops (one click) but hard to follow your plan (requires effort), you're fighting your environment.
