@__shravvv____ @VishnuFNO “Should be” is different from how the courts currently work. “hitched” is again propaganda to trap men with alimony. Hence, no kids = No marriage.

@NityaStriker2 @VishnuFNO Well it should be no alimony or dowry irrespective of the kids factor ! Bec marriage is all about companionsjp. Parenthood isn't the sole reason to get hitched !

@__shravvv____ @VishnuFNO Maybe 5% women at most. Fair enough. The remaining 95% will earn less than men, and will use him as a source of alimony. No point of marriage for men till kids are confirmed.

@__shravvv____ @VishnuFNO Sounds like propaganda by a woman to extract alimony. Without kids, marriage becomes a net negative for Indian men. Hence, strict rule : No kids means No marriage.

Deciding kids are not for you is a personal and super acceptable point Issue is DINK instead of calling it a personal decision, conjure up all sorts of asinine reasons like 1/they can wake up at 8 am instead of 7:45 am 2/ They are able to buy Hoka instead of Nike and so on to justify their decision Essentially what i hear is, i can spend the money what i would possibly spent on the kid on myself which is a/ pretty self centered- humans are meant to procreate etc b/ skill issue that one has to compromise their life style coz of kids Personally for me, we have Mahalakshmis at home and there is not a single day in my life when i thought my life would have been better off if were DINK- every aspect of our lives (fun, finance and any other vector has only been upgraded) after they were born
Deepak Shenoy@deepakshenoy

@vijaythirumalai Isn't the sure you can travel cos you don't have constraints, an upgrade? Or you decide its not for you, but for others it certainly can be and I can see why. I preferred to have kids but can't say this is what others should do

People are baffled by the idea that having kids can be optional. But not having kids when you don't want them is the most responsible choice. Well, I personally know someone who was forced into it and the emotional neglect their child went through, SHOULD NEVER BE REPEATED.
Sneha@HonestlySneha

Why is it so hard for people to understand that procreation is a choice now? People can feel lonely even when surrounded by family, and having children doesn't guarantee support in old age.

@vnodkumar19 In fact, I'd say great decision. Kudos to such couples. This isn't the country to bring a newborn to and leave him or her in an endless loop of suffering.

Many who are disagreeing with me raise valid points. Most Indians have kids due to religio-cultural pressures, have an heir, serve them in old age, as a marker of social status etc - many free-thinking people naturally become anti-natalists as a reaction.
alkalien@alkalien

If you're a couple and love each other, why should you not have at least 2 kids? 🤔 Idiotic middle classes and upper classes thinking that they won't be able to afford the "best lifestyle" for their kids. Why should kids get everything on a silver platter?

More than asking DINK couples to consider having children, shouldn’t we be discussing whether bringing children into this world is even sane? Are we promising the children we bring into this earth a better world? Better air? Better water? These are basic rights. But how cruel is it to bring children into the world without addressing the very disastrous, unlivable conditions?

Unpopular opinion about DINK choosing couples. I think wanting children is the most natural thing. Not wanting is a result of an unresolved childhood trauma or a heavy self (and ecosystem) doubt. These couples were deeply pained either at their parents' sacrifices or incompatibility or toxicity. At times it could be a messy combo of all. They don't want to bring a child into that mess that exists in their subconsciousness. Financial readiness is also a factor but we seem to be talking about affluent section today.
