Hello beautiful people! We have reset usage limits across Codex and ChatGPT Work. And another one will come later in the day. Rejoice.
Now that I have your attention, a quick update on ChatGPT Work, Codex and all the updates we shared yesterday.
We’ve spent the last 24 hours reading feedback, looking at usage patterns, and talking with many of you. The short version is that there is a *lot* of excitement for GPT 5.6 Sol, ChatGPT Work on mobile & web, but also that we didn't get everything quite right.
- We made it too easy to use the highest-compute settings without making the impact on usage limits sufficiently clear.
- We reorganized the desktop app in one bold move, making familiar things like chats and projects harder to find.
- Our launch framing was focused on ChatGPT Work and to some of our Codex fans it made it feel like Codex was going away over time. Absolutely not our intention, we love Codex and it is here to stay.
- And we introduced regressions for some existing multi-agent workflows, alongside a collection of rough edges in plugins and other parts of the experience.
We’re landing a first set of improvements today. We’re resetting usage twice so people can keep experimenting, changing defaults and the model picker so they don’t push people toward unnecessarily expensive settings, fixing several plugin submission issues, improving how we represent Codex in the product, and cleaning up some of the most immediate desktop problems.
A larger set of improvements will land next week. We’re bringing chats and projects back into the sidebar in a more familiar and customizable way, making usage and reset timing much more visible, clarifying when to use ChatGPT Work and when to use Codex, and addressing the many other smaller pieces of great feedback we've had.
The ambition behind this launch hasn’t changed. We think bringing ChatGPT and Codex together into a workspace where people and agents can collaborate is a very important step forward. But an ambitious direction doesn’t excuse avoidable confusion or regressions in the first version.
Please keep the feedback coming. We’re moving quickly, and you should see the experience already get better with a few updates today; and substantially better again next week.

Designers should accept the new reality. I’ve been saying it for years: design is open source. If you can see it, you can copy it.
We’ve always seen designers copying other designers, especially here on X. Some copy work 1:1. Others bring something new. The only difference now is that AI does it at a completely different scale and speed.
If you want to blame 21st dev, blame OpenAI and Anthropic too. They have already scraped, reverse-engineered and used our designs to train their models.
And surprise, surprise: they didn’t do it only with design. They did it with books, code, games and many other things.
I don’t like this reality, where everyone is trying to exploit the system, but I can’t change it either. At the same time, I believe the evolution of AI will solve many real problems and bring a lot of positive change, while also being a massive disruptor across many industries.
Our designs were copied by people before. Now they’re being copied by AI, sometimes without anyone even asking for it. I’ve seen Claude generate websites using animations and assets from our projects, even though the user never requested them.
I never cared much about it. When you look at design as open source, you can simply enjoy the fact that someone “forked” your work.
AI incentivizes unethical behaviour. VCs are happy with it because they understand that if they don’t invest in these companies, someone else will and make the profit instead.
That’s human nature, whether you like it or not.
Look at the companies raising millions today and making millions in profit, while their entire business is built on automating marketing by copying viral posts from hot chicks, replacing their faces with AI and rewriting the captions around their own stories.
And if you don’t like that 21st dev copied your ASCII effect, you can ask AI to copy their entire library and release it for free or charge for it. Up to you.
You can even make it better, because you’re a designer.
Then everything will come down to marketing. You already have a strong foundation for viral posts: conflict sells. You’ll also be seen as the victim, which will bring even more attention and traffic to your product -or simply to your personal brand.

A YC Company knocked off and stole my work 1:1. And this could happen to you next. Here's what happened 👇 2 days back @21st_dev launched an ASCII tool which was completely a ripoff of ascii-magic.com Everything from properties, effects, features, presets and even backgrounds were literally scraped off and used exactly. When I called out this mess, the founder got his ego hurt and unfollowed me instead of addressing the blatant copying. I'd probably not have been this upset if it was a solo designer trying to learn, experiment, or make a quick buck on the side. People learn by rebuilding things all the time. But this is a funded YC company. A company with resources. A company with a grown man as a founder. A company that absolutely knew what it was doing. And yes, before anyone jumps in to defend this, they knew exactly what they were doing. You can tell if you looked at their tool for 5 seconds. The fact that a YC-backed company can use AI to rip off a free tool, launch it publicly, and then refuse to acknowledge or address it is seriously alarming. Makes me think if this goes unchecked, they could (or have been doing this idk) do this to anyone in the future. So as a community, it is necessary we hold folks accountable. Thanks, Kailash

that’s why i use spokenly. it may not be as good at cleaning up the text or spelling proper nouns but it’s reliable, fast, and absolutely free. reliability >>>> everything else. i have no energy for unreliable, untrustworthy people or tools, no matter how good they are.

i just spoke my thoughts for about 5min with @WisprFlow only to end up with 3 words as a result 3 words onlyy and this has happened multiple times with me. I am frustrated, disappointed and confused about the hype it has. GPT voice transcript feature is much much much better.
