@brettmccracken @TGC Did you consider Civilized Creatures or Spencer Boliou? Praise to the Lord the Almighty from the Hymns & Beats EP would be my pick for this list!

One of the most welcome trends in contemporary Christian music is a revived appreciation for the beauty and depth of Christian hymnody. To celebrate this, I put together a @TGC playlist of old Christian hymns newly recorded by contemporary artists. Enjoy!thegospelcoalition.org/article/free-p…

@AmyHird5 I’m in a different country to you, but would be v interested to read something like this! Student MH is a hot topic in the high schools I work in, and helloooo I am relevant in this space (they just don’t realise it yet).

Do "tape measure" and "measuring tape" refer to two different things for you? My husband is confused about which of these items I'm looking for right now!

Not convinced @readingeggs is the best way to teach my 5yo how to read, and now I find out it’s not a good way to teach Aussie animals either! I can’t believe they’re allowed to have @ABCaustralia branding! How do they get away with it?

I'm always suspicious whenever I hear that NAPLAN stresses students out. Where is that stress actually coming from? I know that a small amount of students get general text anxiety, but for entire classes of students to start freaking out there's something more insidious at play

@Readbyeyeandear @LouisaMoats Aren’t /k/ and /w/ sounds in their own rights, /kw/ consonant cluster? Lip position has little bearing on /k/ production but some coarticulation. Product of letter sounds approach, not speech to print. But if /kw/ always represented by ‘qu’ (is it?) prob no harm to it

So much interesting stuff happens when I’m on maternity leave! The FOMO is real (but also 2020 is a great year to be on leave I feel)

@speechieLO @shaunziegenfusz Think I’ve seen @TalkTroubleNZ produce something along this line. Or someone else working in the youth justice space. A visual outline, easy English: what you did, the rule/behaviour standard you broke, the consequence, next time you could do this instead, if it happens again X.

I am looking for info (for teachers) about how to support kids with #DLD to understand when they've done something wrong. My client was sent to the deputy principal, but didn't understand what was said. Any ideas where I should look? @shaunziegenfusz ? #slpeeps #wespeechies

@BenjyRayMunson Preferred by who? I strongly prefer stuttering because teachers read fluency as reading fluency.

@tiffanyphogan @CattsHugh @CrystleAlonzo Parents are looking for positive information in the midst of hearing about the diagnosis and realistic prognosis. Be ready to listen & respond to questions. Be clear & certain, provide information in writing & follow up meeting. Involve family in treatment plan.

@teachnbeach1 @ParkerPhonics I agree! Some are kind of maybe ok sometimes, and some are just what even. Fish and dolphin are the worst in my eyes. What do they actually mean???

@_ameliark Hi Amelia, sorry to hear that you may have encountered a couple of issues here! Could we ask you to email info@readingeggs.com.au so we can make sure these are investigated? Thank you for bringing these to our attention 🙂

Oh @readingeggs 🤦‍♀️ ‘box’ has 4 sounds, not 3. And ‘kw’ is not a sound.

@EminaMcLean Exactly same at my local supermarket in Brisbane today. 0 TP, and the only tissues that remained were aloe vera/eucalyptus/lavender scented. Pasta aisle also severely depleted. All other stock appeared normal. Bizarre.

People are buying boxes of tissues now in Bendigo given there’s no TP. The only stocked area in the tissue section is the eucalyptus ones. Quilton loves your bum but maybe eucalyptus doesn’t? People leaving with armfuls of tissue boxes. Bonkers! #coronavirus #coronavirusaustralia

@JMcKechnieSLP I feel you. This school is a MULTILIT school so you’d think they’d know better. But in fact they have actually integrated these silly animal strategies into the ‘LIT lessons’. I knew what I was getting into and I don’t work there anymore so what is my place to say anything now?

@_ameliark I think my disappointment comes from having expected that a sounds write school would use phonic books only. Do I want to be “that parent” or should I just suck it up b/c I didn’t ask the right questions before enrolling her?

Child in week 4 of kindergarten at a school trained in Sounds Write. Brings home two mostly phonics readers and two repetitive text (including a PM). And parent strategies fully whole Lang. Would you say something to the school?

@EminaMcLean Vague memories, not from school, but dad taught 6yo me and 4.5yo bro at home with some program involving cassette tapes (maybe called You Can Read??). Only because we moved from Qld to NSW so we had 1 less year of full-time school than peers and he didn’t want us to fall behind.

How were you taught to read (which is not necessarily the same as how you learned to read)? I started primary school in 1991. I was lucky enough to be already reading when I went to school but my primary years instruction was all Whole Language.
