Akbayan partylist Rep. Chel Diokno questioned President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s outright support for the Pax Silica initiative, citing the need to consult the communities, assess its environmental impacts, and ensure that it will not drive up the cost of water and electricity.
The proposed industrial hub was being highlighted by Marcos Jr. in his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday. Marcos Jr. lauded the project, saying it will help bring quality jobs to Filipinos, accelerate industrial competitiveness, and revitalize the economy.
The 1,600-hectare high-tech facility is set to be established in New Clark City, Tarlac, as part of the US-led Pax Silica initiative to advance semiconductor manufacturing, data centers, and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.

It strikes me as odd that a movement ostensibly committed to dismantling patriarchal expectations would recoil at the suggestion that men, too, "need love and care". Patriarchy has always insisted men to suppress vulnerability, and saying that only perpetuates it.
