My girlfriend then (Now ex) will always ask me if my best friend was aware that he was my best friend. The question always sounds weird to me but I'd dismissed it. One day while we were on the phone, I was speaking highly of my friend over a situation we just handled, she got angry and yelled "Can you just stop talking about him like that?" I got mad too cos I was tired of her having issues with him for no reason. In the heat of the argument, she sent me multiple explicit pictures of him he had been sending to her. Before I could process what I was seeing, she sent in screenshots of their conversations, the terrible things he had said about me to her and how he was a better choice than me. Apparently, she had been wanting to tell me about it for long but she saw how blinded I was about the brotherhood, so she needed a solid evidence. Did I confront him over it? lol nah Till date, I never mentioned it to him, I just drifted away from the friendship. This happened in 2017 but I still keep in touch (both of them) till date.

The sad thing is that we let APC steal the joy of our 20s from us. Eight years of Buhari, and now Tinubu.
Before now, people lived their 20s well. In fact, the things our mates in other countries are doing with their lives are incredible. A 22-year-old in the US is working one decent job. That job pays their rent, taxes, car installments, vacations, and other utility bills. They can easily afford to board a train and travel to another city just to see the world.
Your mates in other countries are in relationships for love, and they take care of each other well.
But here, everyone is in survival mode. You want to date? The other person is hoping you are their “maga.” They are fixated on what they can get from you. No genuine desire, just survival.
You go to the mall, pick up a basket, and as you move from one aisle to another, you are mentally calculating to be sure you are not making financial mistakes. Mind you, you are just shopping for basic groceries.
Heck, when last did you change your wardrobe? I’m even going too far—when last did you treat yourself to a box of pizza and a bowl of ice cream without feeling guilty?
And to make it worse, we are so docile that this man is about to be re-elected. You know what that means? They are about to steal our 30s from us just like they did our 20s.
Most people won’t even be able to afford to leave this place or own a car in their lifetime. We are too defeated. This is really such a sad way to live life.
