@namonaai @tetrarosie Which would make sense if labor on its own produced value, but it that’s not the case. A lot more things go into producing a commodity than labor, and most is not carried by the worker. And the end price depends on how much people want to pay for it, not labor or anything else.

But what if the land owners don’t have the resources to invest and develop it into something productive? They’d be paying the tax out of pocket or forced to sell, right?

@_bt33_ @LVTYIMBY Taxing most things can disincentivize investing in them; eg corporate taxes reduce the returns on expanding a business. Taxing unimproved value of land does the opposite, encouraging developing it into productive things eg housing. + land is stationary so no tax avoidance/flight

Socialists genuinely just want a better world for everyone and believe everyone deserves to have their basic needs met to survive.. considering no body asks to be here and we have the resources to do it.. I think this is fair. Meanwhile the US has brainwashed people into thinking this is a bad thing

@namonaai @tetrarosie Marx never understood profit, incentive, supply and demand, and insisted that value comes solely from labor, which is honestly stupid. That’s why he’s been debunked so many times and every country that adopted his ideas ended in extreme disaster.

@namonaai @tetrarosie For starters, Marx wasn’t an economist. I have read his work, and it is fundamentally incorrect and consistently contradicts himself.
LTV, the core of Marxism, is straight up nonsense. You can’t be an “excellent economist” if you reject the basics of economics.
