Since Twitter is blowing up ever since the announcement has been made, and I've been seeing nothing but misinformation, I am unfortunately forced to make this post. Team Humzh will unfortunately not be competing in the rest of the tournament. The reason why I wanted to keep everything vague and not divulge any answers was because I wanted to make sure that as little hate as possible would be spread. Since some people just want to farm outrage for impressions, this, unfortunately, is no longer an option. Yesterday, the concern that the top laner for Team Humzh was not actually a low elo top laner was brought to my attention. After hearing this, I decided to ask several questions regarding the situation to get a better understanding of everything. After reading her response, I felt like some questions had been answered, however I did note several inconsistencies that did raise questions. This morning, several other tournament participants (including captains) approached me and raised even more concerns regarding her actual rank; saying that her laning was far above what they would expect from even a Diamond level player. Everything was brought to a public eye when Tarzaned, during the pre game interview, voiced his concerns, that several others also held, that it was actually someone else playing on their account. Initially, when the broadcast ended, everything seemed to be fine; however things quickly took a turn for the worse. I received an anonymous DM that opened up the idea of that the allegations raised could have some merit, and decided to investigate. After getting in calls and conversating with the player in question, I started to notice many more inconsistencies with the story, as well as noting that there were some situations in which that I was flat out being lied to. As an example; When they applied, their application stated: "i am ex-challenger in early league, unranked and bad now i average around 120-180 viewers depending what im playing" The inconsistencies? 1. It was later discovered that this person's original 'Challenger' account was actually an account that was shared by multiple people, 2. Certain high elo community members remembered playing with/against a player using their same exact IGN and playing the same exact champ pool in high elo as late as Season 10, Keep in mind that this is only one inconsistency of seven. To all those who think it would have been my job to verify everything, I agree, however I can only work with what is given to me, and if not all the information is given to me at the start, it will inevitably lead to problems down the line. Once I realized sheer magnitude of observable problems with this one player in specific, I decided to contact Humzh to bring up all my concerns. We got in a Discord call for 3 hours. Initially, it was only me along with 3 members of team Humzh including himself and his coach. After I voiced my concerns, and Humzh offered insight into his position as well, we came to a mutual understanding that both sides were well within their rights. On my side, I was worried for the integrity of the tournament because I wanted to ensure that it felt as fair as possible for all participants involved. On Humzh's side, he tried offering reasonings as to why it might have seemed that there were inconsistencies, as well as bringing up the fact that he and his team were scrimming every single day, and he felt like their team's synergy just wouldn't be the same without their toplaner. To get both sides inputs on the situation, I then brought in Tarzaned. After deliberating for an hour or so, a potential solution was delivered. Since the main problem stemmed from the numerous inconsistencies with the top laner's story that led to me being uncertain whether or not they were telling the truth, I offered a solution. In an attempt to assure that the individual's privacy was maintained and respected, while also having verifiable evidence that it was actually them playing on the account, I offered the following solution. "if you want to continue in the tournament, you need to have a hand cam (with keyboard and monitor visible in frame) open on discord so that my girlfriend will be able to verify that you are the one playing" I chose my girlfriend for this since she has no attachment to the scene whatsoever, and would also be someone who I viewed as impartial as well as someone whose judgment I trusted. Humzh, his teammate, and his coach agreed that this was a fair compromise, Tarzaned agreed that it was a fair compromise and would apologize for making the accusations in the first place, However, unfortunately, the top laner did not agree. The individual was well within their rights to decline, and once they made it 100% clear that they had no intention of continuing the tournament I let them know about the consequence of their declination. In light of all this, I tried offering Humzh the opportunity to find a new top laner for the tournament, but he, unfortunately, wasn't interested. Once again, the individual was well within their rights to decline, and once they made it 100% clear that they had no intention of continuing the tournament I let them know about the consequence of their declination. This, unfortunately, left me with the worst case scenario. A scenario in which one of the most hype teams of the tournament would not be able to continue participating, and leave many of the onlooking fans disappointed. The DQ of Team Humzh. I didn't want to make all of this public because I didn't want hate to get directed towards any of the parties involved, however since many people are tweeting about the situation I feel like my hand was forced. It was an extremely unfortunate situation that I wish could have been prevented, however my first duty is to make sure that, first and foremost, the integrity of the tournament is preserved. While I wish things could have gone differently, all I can do is urge you all to not send any hate towards any of the parties involved. At the end of the day, every party just tried to do what was right for themselves and the side they represented, and while it could have derailed differently, it was noone's intention that it ends this way. I tried to do what was best, but please keep in mind that I'm the only one organizing this entire event because I just wanted to have a fun tournament for all NA viewers to enjoy. It makes me sad that what should have been kept as an internal matter ended up scaling into a drama fest, however all I can hope for at this point is that all those who are enjoying the event will continue to do so. The Quarterfinals will still take place tomorrow at 4 PM EST, however instead of 8 teams, we will only be fielding 6. I'm sorry that some of you feel let down, but I'll do my best to try and make the rest of the Dantes Invitational as hype as I possibly can <3
