September 11, 2025 Charlie Kirk died yesterday, September 10, 2025. He was assassinated during an event that his organization held at a university in Utah. Something he had done quite literally hundreds of times since he started the movement Turning Point USA some 13 years ago, but this day ended in a tragically different way. A man who devoted his life to engaging people from all walks of life for the sake of true discourse with the goal of a better America. An America centered around God, family and the betterment of humanity. He outspokenly loved Jesus and his wife and kids. His impact has been felt for over a decade now and because of what transpired yesterday his legacy will have a more far reaching impact. He is a true American hero. One who embodied fully what it means to be American. He invited discourse and dissenting opinions for the sake of truth and finding common ground. He was not racist. He was not hateful. These things must be stated unequivocally as there are some in this moment who try to use those descriptions as some sort of justification for what happened to him and his family. A man lost his life and a family lost a husband and father. I write these things for posterity’s sake that even if all others forget and all recollection is lost that he be remembered at least by me. That someone such as myself who knew who Charlie Kirk was but did not know him personally can feel so burdened by his passing is a testament to his reach and meaning to so many. I believe his death brings the country to the precipice of what only history can determine as a true turning point; continue down the dark path where violence begets more violence or allow this tragic moment in history to be a catalyst toward a more perfect union. A moment that can galvanize a people to appealing to our best selves as a nation and as individuals. My true hope is that the latter prevails and that although a grain of wheat has fallen to the ground, it is so that many will rise in its place to carry on the beautiful exchange of ideas that define America. My hope is that the life and example of Charlie Kirk that was without understatement brought to a premature end will be the spark of a revival not only in America but across the world. A revival of faith in Jesus Christ and a revival of the pursuit of the best that humanity can be. It is not darkness that extinguishes light but rather light that casts out the darkness. My prayer is that the light of hope illuminates this dark hour and provides warmth and comfort to all who mourn, especially the family of Charlie Kirk. Let us not be overcome by this tragedy and sink further into division which will lead to decay, but rather let it lift us into the light of our best selves. Our greatest representations of who we are as Americans and humans are found in these moments where we have the opportunity to falter because one has faltered but choose to instead rise as one who has now risen. May you rest in Peace Charlie Kirk as you forever enjoy the light and presence of our glorious Lord, Jesus Christ, Amen. #CharlieKirk
