The death of physical media is NOT the way forward for the Arts. MP3 quality SUCKS compared even to CDs, never mind the true sine waves of vinyl. Which is why some artists have gone back to making actual records for the elite customers. You CAN'T go out and buy CDs of music anymore. Everything is online, streaming, and hot steaming shit. No audiophile in their right mind would run 128 or 160kbps quality files through their hi fi system. 1441 of remastered CDs would be bare minimum. But, even the compilation CDs like the annual Grammy CDs are done. And what does that do? It drives people back into their collections instead of adding to them. There's more than enough classic music out there from amazing artists that people haven't heard yet at the local second hand or thrift store. And since people can't buy physical media, that means modern artists have to make their money through gouging people at their concerts. For the time being, we're still adding to the blu-ray movie collection, but eventually that too will disappear unless the industry changes course. Some things were far better off the way they were.

🇺🇸 MATT DAMON: THE DEATH OF DVDS MADE MOVIES SUPERFICIAL "The DVD was a huge part of our revenue stream. Technology has made that obsolete. The movies we used to make, you could afford not to make all of your money when it played in the theatre. When that went away, that changed the kind of movies you could make." @C_S_Skeptic What I've learned: 1. Vinyl is lovely but it's expensive and niche. Gamble. 2. Cassettes... cheaper but nichier. 3. CDs...a bit spendy and they never excited me. 4. Minidiscs...fck yeah. So niche I love it. (I sell as many as vinyl.) Making music is not a living for most of us.

@nubient I'm a little obsessed about the dynamic between album title/cover art > track title > music

@bennjordan @kits_ai @splice I don't understand why artists aren't using this technology for sound treatment. It opens up so many new avenues. They seem obsessed with the training aspect.

@DylanoA4 [Most of] the greatest songs come from...other songs. It's inescapable.

Leonard Cohen on inspiration, it's crazy how all the greatest songwriters say the exact same thing

The Terror was so excellently acted and produced. Two doomed ships disappearing into the frozen wastes... Marcus's transporting soundtrack was its soul.

You can use one source of monitoring for the next mix. Your pick: headphones or monitors?

"there are no true poets" Never seen the clash between creative influence and creative origination stated so well.
