After 8 years, we are winding down Opulous. This is an extremely hard tweet to write as I know how many people have spent not just money but time and energy on Opulous including of course the team, but more importantly the community members who we have worked so hard for. 1/ First, what actually happened. Opulous was not hacked. Our platform and staking contracts were never compromised. The failure happened entirely within Messina’s bridge infrastructure, a provider we trusted to manage cross-chain transfers, and who failed to carry out even a basic audit on their product. 2/ Their relay contract was exploited using forged bridge messages, releasing hundreds of millions of OPUL from escrow with nothing locked on the source chain. In simple terms: the attacker printed more than 2x the total token supply out of thin air and sold it. Messina have still not made a single public statement taking accountability for this. 3/ From the moment it happened, our thoughts were always with the community. We launched a full forensic investigation across every chain, traced every wallet, contacted every major exchange, engaged blockchain forensic firms, filed police reports and reached out to international police departments across multiple jurisdictions. We tried everything within our power. 4/ While other teams may have quickly sold their tokens, that was never our focus. The hack drained our current market making reserves as we tried to hold the price, and but we continued to support with personal funds because we knew what a collapsing token meant for the people holding it. I have personally helped to fund operations across 8 years, never took a salary, never sold a token. Every call we made under pressure was made with the community in mind. 5/ We looked at every possible path forward. A token migration was not viable. The inflated supply, more than 2x what should exist, is still circulating and cannot be frozen or recalled. Even if we launched a new token, no exchange would list it while the original continues to trade and the attacker still holds an inflated supply they can dump at any time. Without exchange support there is no liquidity, and without liquidity there is no market. On top of that, a relaunch announcement in crypto attracts bad actors looking to pump and dump. The community would simply be exposed to being hurt a second time. 6/ Every token I hold including my team allocation and the tokens I personally bought over the years and chose never to sell, even when I easily could have, will be sent to a permanently locked wallet. Not a single token from my side will ever reach the market. 7/ For OVAULT depositors: your funds are safe. USDC has already been airdropped directly to your wallets so check your wallet now, nothing more is needed. For MFT holders who purchased: we have liquidated the music catalog and proceeds are available as a USDC payout through the Rewards panel. For airdropped MFT holders: your MFTs remain onchain as collectibles but rewards distribution will stop. If you have unclaimed rewards, make sure you collect them before April 30. All claims must be made before April 30, 2026. After that date the platform goes offline. 8/ I can being to explain my frustrations for our community during this whole process. Crypto needs to change. Hacks have become a daily occurrence, but the market is so unregulated that governing authorities don’t even treat it as a crime. You can steal millions of dollars, more than double a project’s token supply, and face no meaningful consequence. We contacted the police and international police departments across multiple jurisdictions and there was zero interest in finding the criminals. This is not acceptable and it cannot keep being the norm. 9/ To everyone in the Opulous community, thank you. You were not just holders. You were part of everything we built. I wish more than anything that we could have carried on building and given this the outcome you put so much into. I am truly sorry we were robbed of that chance. Lee

I think I know why everything sucks... ...and it's because everything is fake We are getting fake college degrees that cost 4 years and six figures that teach you fake education and get you fake jobs. We are eating fake food, with fake ingredients, funded by fake research. We are scrolling through fake lives, with fake relationships, who take fake, curated vacations to promote brands that make fake products. We are voting for fake candidates, who run on fake promises, inside a fake system that was never designed to fix anything. We are raising kids in fake schools that teach fake history, fake science, which quietly produce fake adults who can't think for themselves. We are watching fake news, about fake crises, produced by fake journalists, for fake outrage. We are borrowing fake money that was printed from nothing, to fund a fake economy that would collapse in an afternoon if people stopped pretending it was real. We are buying fake organic food that's just a paid label, and drinking fake juice with two percent juice in it, and putting fake cheese on cheeseburgers that's just "cheese product" on fake burger meat. We are donating to fake nonprofits where the moeny never makes it to the people and then funding fake foreign aid that buys real weapons to prop up fake governments. We are going to fake therapy that teaches fake coping skills instead of telling you hard truths. We are buying fake furniture made of fake wood that's actually compressed sawdust and glue that looks like wood, ships in fourteen boxes with instructions written in a fake language that isn't quite any language, requires tools it doesn't include, takes 4 hours to build, wobbles on day 1, and is totally destroyed in 6 months. We are downloading fake "free" apps that charge a subscription after three days for AI features that don't work, hidden behind a paywall we didn't see, protected by a privacy policy we didn't read, buried inside Terms of Service written by lawyers specifically so we wouldn't read them, that we agreed to by tapping a button the size of a thumbnail, that gave a company we've never heard of the right to sell our data to companies we'll never hear of, to build a profile on us we'll never see, to influence decisions we'll never know were made. IT. IS. ALL. FAKE. And we all yearn for what was once real. Don't you remember? Did you forget? There was a time with a simple handshake between men was a contract. When bread went stale because... well, that's what real bread does! When kids played outside all day until it was dark, and nobody tracked them. When a family could live off a single income. When music was made by people who LIVED something real and you could feel it. When schools was HARD... and that was the point! When doctors knew your name and your family, they even came to your house, When you bought something once... and it was yours forever. When the chair your grandmother bought once lasted 70 years and she passed it onto your dad. And now nothing is real, and that's why everything sucks.

The UK has one of the best investment accounts in the world. And hardly anyone knows it. A Stocks and Shares ISA. £20,000 per year. Every year. Tax-free. No capital gains tax when you sell. No dividend tax on income. No tax on interest. Nothing. Most countries don't have anything like this. Americans pay tax on every single gain. Australians. Canadians. Germans. The French. They'd kill for what we have. And yet most people in the UK don't even know ISAs exist. Or they think it's just a savings account paying 4%. The average person contributes less than half their annual ISA allowance. That's thousands of pounds of tax-free investing going unused. Every single year. £20k invested annually at 10% growth for 20 years = £1.27 million. Tax-free. No other country lets you do this. We literally have a cheat code for building wealth and most people don't use it. Are you even using yours at all?

I sit in Parliament listening to these ministers, and it’s all just so depressing - the vast majority of them have never run a business, and it SHOWS. You would not believe how bad it is. They think ‘work’ means turning up to an office between 9 and 5, answering a few emails, and going home at the end of the day. Nice lunch break, few coffees away from the desk, probably a smoking break or several. It doesn’t - not for the millions of men and women who actually create the wealth that funds the state. Running a small business isn’t a job. It’s a way of life. It is life. It’s 24/7/365. It’s relentless. You are the accountant, HR department, compliance officer, cleaner, marketer, and customer service team - all in one. There’s no sick pay, no safety net, and no taxpayer-funded pension waiting for you. Holiday? Good luck. If you do manage to get away, it’s checking the phone all day, every day. Wife/husband obviously getting pissed off. We’ve all been there... It’s all on you. Every invoice chased, every tax deadline met, every bit of red tape navigated is on you. And if you make one mistake, one error, one small slip-up, the state comes after you - in a relentlessly efficient manner that is never afforded to us when we ask questions of it. Most MPs have no idea what that feels like. They just don’t. We’re going to see more of this in the budget I’m sure. More hurt. More pain. More tax. They don’t get it. They don’t understand that when a small business owner gets hit with another tax, it’s not absorbed by a ‘budget’ - it’s taken straight out of their family’s pocket. There is no ‘deficit’ in the business world - that’s called going bust. And they certainly don’t understand what real risk looks like. Politicians can vote through a policy on Monday and forget it by Tuesday - a small business owner lives with the consequences of that policy for years, decades. The MP monthly salary is safe. It always has been. In the public sector before, and in the public sector after - if not that, some charity/NGO funded entirely by the public sector. GET A REAL JOB. If MPs actually spent a week running a small firm - paying suppliers, tackling VAT, navigating health and safety law, sorting out HR issues, chasing clients for payment, trying to expand while staying compliant with everything from GDPR to local planning regulations - they’d legislate very differently. I can promise you that. They’d realise that most of Britain’s problems could be solved by the state doing less, not more. Cutting tax. Simplifying regulation. Slashing back the HRification of the country. Trusting people who actually produce things to get on with it. Instead, we have a political class that talks endlessly about ‘growth’ while brutally punishing the only people capable of delivering it - especially going after the family businesses/farms, which is a particularly spiteful policy decision. Small business owners are people who work harder than almost anyone in Parliament could imagine - and who are treated worse for it. Britain’s small businesses don’t succeed because of politicians, they survive in spite of them.
