Curious — why is decoration of our personnel contingent on how “well behaved” he/she was with the enemy? Brownie points for killing the enemy in a “humane” manner? Human rights for folks of same cohort who did what they did with Late Capt. Saurabh Kalia!
@

Correction.... he was not given any decoration (I always recall PVC --> MVC ... but had forgotten that it was considered as human rights violation. Stories told by Grandfather .. and last met the legend in 1992)

A combat search & rescue for the history books. The extraction of the 2nd F-15 pilot from Iran may go down as one of the most dangerous missions in history. I explain how it may have happened, what assets were used & why this is a big deal:

For this act of his, he earned the love & respect of the men so much that as per legend, as a CO, his parental unit would not allow him to walk. Men willingly made up a palanquin, to carry the hero on their shoulders.

Also, if I recollect correctly, legend says that he carried an injured soldier on his back from a raid near Kahuta, through enemy territory, chased by enemy troops, refusing to leave him behind. The comrade survived.

Perhaps may have got a PVC, had his wrath not struck terror in the hearts of the enemy so great... Legend has his calling card as a black button left behind on his every personal kill, a mark of the Rifle Regiment dress, to mark his belonging to 3rd Battallion Rajputana Rifles

Brings me to Col Mohinder Singh, MVC, ex CO 3 RAJ RIF, original of the famous Meghdoot Force in 1965. His exploits during the war earned him a similar distinction with a much greater reward. Last met the legend almost 30 years back, retired & carrying a personal arm till date.

he took over Command of his unit, it was declared by the troops that the "CO sahab will never walk", Unit builds a palanquin as a respect to his deeds, carried him in palanquin. Retire quietly .. still around ... not a peep to anyone. PS: recommended for PVC but he was too

Be Col Mohinder Singh, MVC ( 2/Lt Mohinder Singh of Meghdoot Force. Own soldier, in a raid deep behind Pakistani lines, gets hit, carries the casualty on his back all the way back, through the enemy lines, to safety. Become a quiet legend. Soldiers love him so much that when

When air defence is discussed, the assumption is often total protection. But that assumption does not hold, especially in India’s context. At the Strategic Renaissance of Air Power Conference, Air Marshal Diptendu Chowdhary pointed to the core challenge: scale. The sheer size of India makes it impossible to build an air defence system that stops every drone or every incoming strike. Even heavily layered systems, like those seen in Israel, have not been impermeable. The lesson? Air defence is not about perfection. It is about resilience under saturation. In modern warfare, some threats will get through. The real question is not can you stop everything, but can you absorb, respond, and continue to fight? #AirDefence #DroneWarfare #MilitaryStrategy #IndiaSecurity #chakranewz @SandeepUnnithan @awasthi_bob @i_DeepakBhadana @SonicLancer

#USIranWar | How could this have happened when we are told that Iran's radar systems have been gauged out and they are blind to threats? Maybe 3 pilots could be in the vicinity. The possibility is really high, including the two pilots of the Black Hawks. This is history

While Iran is showcasing the kills as IR based missiles hitting the target, it needs to be noted that the sudden spike of number of hits is not normal. The “quality” of the seekers cannot improve overnight! It looks like we are missing something here!
