@vicnaum Oh, you’re already using wakaru in it too; even closer to my interests! ;) Did you see the wakaru v1 rust rewrite that just dropped recently? Massive speedups and memory usage improvements; and we’re still in very early stages of benchmarking/optimising/etc. cc // @pionxzh

I reverse-engineered @claudeai Code's binary to add a feature I always wanted: When context fills up - instead of nuking everything with /compact - I can now surgically strip tool calls/results and thinking blocks while keeping all actual messages intact.

@SenhorZiborro At a company I used to work for; a friend built a tool that basically did this over a locked down Remote Desktop session; then implemented a bi-directional TCP/IP tunnel over it. Was neat!

The meta part: I reverse-engineered Claude Code using Claude Code :) 48 sessions over several days. Built 20 tools: binary extraction, module splitting, vendor fingerprinting, AI renaming (23,105 identifiers via Gemini for ~$2), and a full round-trip pipeline.

Now that I've joined the Codex team, it's so freakin' cool being able to fix paper cut bugs that I was running into before the switch. What paper cuts are you running into? I'll see what I can do.

@MalikTick @btraut Being able to move projects in and out of projects would be SO helpful. Also to be able to move them to/from the ‘not attached to a project’ ‘chats’ section too. I put together a skill/tool to help with this; but it’s hacky and annoying that it’s not possible by default.

@chrisd9r @btraut I’ve noticed similar with worktrees weirdly conflicting with ‘root’ projects and cloud projects in the sidebar; where I’m seeing some of my chats end up in weird places/groupings. It would be nice if the main project folder showed it’s related worktree projects ‘attached’

@btraut Codex sidebar fetches a small global recent page, then groups client-side by cwd. Lots of chats from deleted temp worktrees can crowd out other projects, and because those cwds don’t map back to the canonical repo, grouped view shows “No chats” despite CLI history having them.

@btraut The integrated terminal has some weird UI bug for me. Probably related to my zshrc or something, but it only happens in Codex, not in Ghostty, VScode or anything else CC @thsottiaux

- better thread search - gpt image 2 quota meter - clarity on whether codex 5.3 spark usage quota is a part of general usage quota or entirely separate - changes to permission level should apply to currently ongoing task immediately - lots of connection issues and context overflow errors (i assume you'll see these in telemetry)

@lennox_saint @thsottiaux Also, tangentially related; if I have multiple codex windows open when I update the app; re-open them all back to the threads they were on. When I’m 5 layers deep in rabbitholes of context; that glowing update button is a tempting curse.

@thsottiaux The most frustrating papercut is having to remember which threads are unread/finished before updating the app and then manually marking them as “unread” once the app has restarted. It would be SO helpful if the unread chats persisted across updates!

For those of you living inside the codex app, what should we prioritize among features, reliability or performance?

@btraut You're getting spammed lol, but here is my small feedback: it would be amazing to be able to navigate the project by clicking the breadcrumb elements. And congrats about joining the Codex team, you're living the dream.
