@aduermael It's WebGL2. We've actually been able to run at up to 400fps for a long time, but these tools make the games much more efficient to render, so we can have more complex games at higher framerates, even on phones. This game runs at 120fps on my Samsung Galaxy S23.

@_dotbigbang_ Nice world editor! 🙂 Is that WebGPU or WebGL? I'm wondering what's been the main blocker to achieve 120FPS.

@McFunkypants Could 100% do that or even a complete spectrum emulator. If you can get something that's pure JS that's pretty easy to do!

@_dotbigbang_ Yup, we've found the same.. we'll be following @_dotbigbang_ 's lead and converting to spheres also

@ngelCastejn3 No no, we found that the memory usage is also much better because there's space between each voxel. The light basically "glides" around the spheres vs smashing into the little boxes which slows the light down.

Hey! After 10 years of working with voxels, today marks a huge change! We have determined that for the future of the project, voxels are infeasible if we want to render huge worlds. For that reason, we have decided to move to spheres. Here's a preview, more info soon!
