@Tisseee12 Watson defends guards pretty well. I think he’s better at guarding guards than bigger wings. I don’t think he’s slow footed at all. Smart is likely slower. But either way, having both Smart and Watson would be an upgrade defensively, no matter who starts.

My ideal Lakers lineup:
Ware / Hayes
Bron ($18 m) / Portis / 2nd rd pick
Watson ($28 m) / Rui ($18 m) / Thiero
AR / Buyout 3+D (Klay or KCP)
Luka / Smart (room) / Bronny
Would need to send multiple 1st rounders and need to shed salary (or waive/stretch) to make this happen.

Lakers fans are divided between getting stars (Giannis) vs. getting more depth through role players. But there’s a middle ground: Obtaining role players who still have the ability to become all stars, i.e. Watson/Ware. Trading up in the draft is also a way to do both.

Lakers should offer #25 and another future first to Bucks for Ware and to take on some of the salary on our books (Vando, Knecht). Maybe work something to get Portis too and/or a second rounder.
This would give Bucks five first rounders.

I tend to agree. The only way I would be fine with it is if we somehow also kept AR, Smart, and Rui for depth. So really the only narrow pathway this could happen involves a 3 way trade with Bron to CLE.

A Giannis trade to the Lakers isn’t the solution here. It’s just Westbrook all over again and everyone is short circuiting right now at the sight of the Spurs and OKC and are defaulting on instinct to what USED to work for the Lakers back in the day.

I actually think the opposite. Maybe the best counter against Wemby is a quick footed big/wing, “tall enough”, can stretch the floor, be mobile, and box Wemby out. It’s why Hartenstein barely played G1.
Kessler is starting to shoot 3s so that’s a start. Good mobility is next.

Two advantages vs OKC to exploit:
1. Bron (and Rui) has a big height advantage against OKC’s perimeter defenders (Dort, Caruso, Wallace, SGA, JDub). Post them up!
2. The most inefficient player among the two starting groups is Dort. Lakers gotta take advantage there.

I think both Vando and Jaxson need to get DNP’d next game. So we may have to play everyone 40 mins, which **yikes**
That’s why I’m thinking having one super short Maxi shift and possibly even a super short NSJ shift should at least be considered.

Adjustments for Game 6: 1. Either play Ayton 45 mins or play Kleber instead of Jaxson when Sengun is on the floor. Play Sengun straight up. 2. Put Smart on Jabari and AR on Reed Sheppard. 3. On offense, more PnR getting Sengun on switches. More Bron post ups on Sheppard.
