Hello everyone, We’re pleased to announce that Dr. Hazim Aljewari has been promoted to Director of R&D, Molecular Biology. Since joining NOWDiagnostics®, Hazim has made immediate and meaningful contributions to our lab operations and molecular diagnostics program. Before NOWDx, Hazim spent several years at the University of Arkansas, where his work focused on molecular biology, biotechnology, genetics, and bioprocessing engineering. His strong translational research background allowed him to transition quickly into NOWDx and take on an early leadership role in molecular assay development. Hazim brings over a decade of research experience, with three patents and more than 50 peer-reviewed publications. He also has a broad international background, including research at Khon Kaen University in Thailand and an academic career in Iraq as an Assistant Professor at the University of Baghdad, where he also founded an international lab supply company. At NOWDx, Hazim has already played a key role in advancing proprietary molecular assays and solving polymerase inactivity in saliva—work now being captured as a provisional patent. His team’s dedication was clear when they worked through the Thanksgiving weekend to resolve critical reagent issues. The molecular program is central to NOWDx’s value, and Hazim’s leadership continues to strengthen it. He is a natural teacher and collaborator who brings great energy to the team. In his new role, Hazim will lead the day-to-day activities of the molecular group and report directly to Dr. Jody Berry, Chief Scientific Officer. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Hazim Aljewari on his well-deserved promotion. #NOWDiagnostics #NOWDx #FirstToKnow #PublicHealth #Prevention #MolecularBiology #Congratulations

According to the CDC, syphilis remains a serious public health issue. In 2023, the U.S. saw 209,253 total syphilis cases. While primary & secondary syphilis dropped ~10% from 2022 to 2023, late-stage cases rose ~12.8%. Why this matters: untreated syphilis can lead to severe health problems even years later. According to the JAMA Network, Nearly 90% of congenital syphilis cases could have been prevented with proper prenatal care, timely testing, and treatment. Many pregnant women either don’t get prenatal care early enough, aren’t tested, or don’t receive treatment. You have power over prevention — ask for syphilis testing early in pregnancy. 👉 Learn more at bit.ly/487jcph. #FirstToKnow #NOWDx #PreventCongenitalSyphilis #MaternalHealth

Syphilis doesn’t affect everyone equally. In 2023: • Non-Hispanic Black/African American people experienced a disproportionate burden of STIs, including syphilis — making up about one-third of reported cases, while representing only about 13% of the U.S. population. • Rates of syphilis — including congenital syphilis passed from mother to baby — were among the highest in American Indian/Alaska Native communities, highlighting serious health disparities. Testing and treatment access matter—especially in communities with less access to healthcare. 👉Get informed — visit bit.ly/4gJCS4J. #FirstToKnow #NOWDx #SyphilisDisparities #PublicHealth #InHomeTesting #SexualHealth
