I knew Hassan Yassin, a friend of a lifetime and a companion on the path, and in him I came to know the rare human being who combines wisdom and kindness, depth of thought and lightness of spirit. May God have mercy on him, he was a man of great heart, generous in his feelings before his giving, present with his smile and his cheerful spirit even in his most difficult circumstances. His words were never fleeting; rather, they carried the thoughts of a far-sighted man who reads life with the awareness of the sage and the contemplation of the thinker. And deep within him remained the authentic Arab: chivalry, loyalty, manliness, and pride in the noble values by which he lived and never abandoned for a single day. May God have mercy on Hassan… In him I lost a lifelong friend, and his beautiful memory remains defiant against absence Hamza Alkholi

Chamath: Taiwan Loses Its Strategic Importance in 18 Months @chamath: “ We're 18 months from Taiwan not being an important moment of conversation the way it is today. Why 18 months? Because we are at a point where we're probably 1-2 nanometers away from being able to do what we need Taiwan to strategically do for us. And so as we scale up our chip fabs, as we get more capacity, and interestingly, there are these orthogonal technologies being developed. I don't know if you guys saw, but Neuralink was showcasing a machine that is literally operating at the almost nanometer scale to do the brain operations for the implantation, all automatically. When you have the dexterity and the capability mechanically to make these things, the real reason then is a very different one than what it is today. Today, it's economic. And if you take that off the table, I think we'll have a very different attitude to Taiwan.”

🇦🇪 Dubai is full of traffic and crowds again. Already missing the Iranian fireworks — they helped clear the city of the easily impressed. The UAE’s air defenses proved excellent under fire. For 0% tax, we get better protection than Europeans paying 50%.

The UAE’s decision to exit OPEC and OPEC+ is a sovereign strategic choice rooted in its long-term economic vision, evolving energy capabilities, and enduring commitment to global energy security. This decision follows a comprehensive assessment of national production policy and future capacity and is guided exclusively by the UAE’s national interest, its responsibility as a reliable energy supplier, and its steadfast commitment to market stability. It is not driven by political considerations, nor does it reflect any division between the UAE and its partners. The UAE’s decisions are sovereign, strategic, and guided by national interest, not external speculation.

BREAKING: Trump indicated he could accept a 20-year halt to Iran’s nuclear activity: 20 years is enough. But the level of guarantee from them… it's got to be a real 20 years.

The world is already 1 billion barrels short, because of the closure of Hormuz. 1 billion barrels. That is the arithmetic of extortion. Every day the Strait is held hostage, the costs go up... for families, farms, factories and economies around the world. Return freedom of navigation. No conditions. No delay.

15 mins on hold with @virginmedia I have yet to speak with an actual person after receiving a call last week from someone so heavily accented I couldn’t understand them. Repeatedly I asked for an email with the information they were trying to communicate and was refused. Help.
