Lazy Investors can survive in the market 😄
Buitengebieden@buitengebieden
Still wondering how this species survive in the wild.. 😅
English

@_harsh90 @karthick_77 No one cares about your doubts. What we do care, was that the poisoned child survived and that is enough for us to keep talking about how much the alt med industry is harming public health.
English

@theliverdoc @karthick_77 Doxab that's abt 50% weight of the med in arsenic and mercury. The manufacturer couldn't have purchased these on purpose, let alone the excipients in the formula. I now doubt you or the analysis you ve gotten done🤨
English

@karthick_77 Highest in my career as a Hepatologist analysing Ayush meds.

@spkalantri @timesofindia ‘Herbal’/‘Neutraceuticals’ are the least regulated segments in healthcare today. High time the Govt bought in strict regulations. Advertisements are covered under the Drugs and Magic Remedies act and this case is in all probability punishable.
English

Saw this ad in the @timesofindia today, targeting all middle aged individuals, promising them normal BP and normal heart. The earlier our national newspapers stop accepting such misleading ads, the better. They could potentially cost people their lives.

@just1doctorwala @spinesurgeon @spkalantri Yes, that’s a very valid argument! But in no other field do infomartion asymmetry and market inefficiencies play out like they do in healthcare leaving the marginalised vulnerable. The Govt policies are far from perfect but justifiable to some extent.
English

Why is a computer available today at a fraction of earlier prices
Why is a mobile phone available today at a fraction of earlier prices
SP Kalantri@spkalantri
@drcheruvarun Primary angioplasty has globally saved countless lives, backed by substantial evidence of its superiority over current standard of care. The concern lies in the exorbitant stent costs – why is the same stent now available at a fraction of its pre-2017 price?
English

@_harsh90 @just1doctorwala @spkalantri //
So not quite the analogy. Plus can’t expect a Bentley to be shoved down someone’s throat who could barely afford a Maruti!
//
If you can't afford maruti
Use govt bus
Same way
Come to GH and get free treatment
English

@spinesurgeon Can’t compare the two, the MRP’s of drugs tend to rise arbitrarily on account of a number of greed points in an unregulated market. The only real market forces operating in medicines are at the retail level where stents are not bought.
English

@just1doctorwala @spkalantri @spinesurgeon Well actually different stents have different price caps. Bare metal/ Drug eluting/ Biodegradable. So not quite the analogy. Plus can’t expect a Bentley to be shoved down someone’s throat who could barely afford a Maruti!
English

You can buy a Maruti for 5 lakhs or a Bentley for 2 crores. Government coming in with price cap/ceiling forced the market to stock only Marutis...
Overnight!
There are different quality, materials of stent, medicated, non medicated etc
Everyone gets a Maruti now. Only a Maruti.
I hope the analogy helps.
English

@spkalantri Drug price control policy of the Indian Govt has indeed reined in several instances of reckless profiteering by healthcare providers. Inclusion of medical devices in the policy too is amply justified.
English

Did the fall in cardiac stent prices, reducing from Rs 1.25 lakhs to 15000 following the price ceiling in Feb 2017, result in a rise in patients enduring more angina, experiencing more heart attacks, or risking premature deaths after undergoing #angioplasty?
