This isn’t your average wideout — this is a two-sport speedster molded in one of Texas’ football kitchens, Westlake High, where state titles are served up like Sunday plates. We’re talking a program that’s produced NFL Hall of Famer Drew Brees, Super Bowl champ Nick Foles, and Texas Longhorn great Sam Ehlinger — plus stars like Garrett Gilbert (SMU/Texas/NFL), Brecken Hager (Texas), Ryan Swope (Texas A&M), and Jaxon Shipley (Texas). Westlake’s trophy case and alumni list read like a Texas football hall of fame. Before rocking Chaparral red, Hunter suited up for Cedar Park High School — another Central Texas powerhouse. Cedar Park’s tradition runs deep: Spencer Drango (Baylor All-American & NFL lineman), Thomas Hutchings (Baylor), Dee Huerta (Texas State), David Porter (SMU), and Sam Castor (Air Force) are just a few Timberwolves who made it to the college ranks. The Timberwolves have multiple UIL State Championships (2012, 2015) and Hunter himself helped lead them to the 5A D1 State Finals. Hunter brought home a 6A D2 State Championship at Westlake as a junior in 2021 under legendary coach Todd Dodge, then took his speed to the track — two-time Region 4 finalist in the 300-meter hurdles and part of a state finalist 4x100m relay team. Even with an injury-shortened senior season in 2022, the Chaps still went 14-1 before falling in the state semifinals, ending a 54-game win streak. After a stint at Kansas — including a Guaranteed Rate Bowl championship roster spot — Hunter’s bringing that con ganas mentality to the Valley. And here in Down in the Valley country, when the grill’s hot and the crowd’s loud, you can expect him to cook DBs like barbacoa on a Sunday — because that’s how we do it in the 956. #UTRGVditv #WinToday #RallyTheValley
