In a new statement, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services spokesman Zach Kahler suggests that green card applicants in the U.S. who will provide an "economic benefit" or serve the "national interest" will be allowed to complete their processing here, without having to leave.

If I had to go home to convert my O-1 genius visa into a greencard, it would completely derail my career. Not even worth applying at that point.
The process for a greencard is 1 to 2 years. The O-1 lasts 2 to 3 years. Just say you don’t want high skill immigration

It's not "tit-for-tat" retard. The tax revenue made by suburbanites does not pay for what it spends when compared to the tax revenue made by urbanites because suburbanites demand city-level infrastructure at a quarter or less the tax rate per acre of the city.

The urban core generates almost all of a typical U.S. city's tax revenue but most of it goes to fund roads, sewer lines, power lines et al in suburbs.
If suburbs paid for themselves, rather than leaching off the city, I think a lot more people would be live and let live on this.
