The saddest part about BBQ is it used to be poor people food. Used cheap cuts and slow smoked them till tender. Today it is more expensive than a typical steakhouse, charging $36/lb for brisket. Worst thing to happen to BBQ ever is it became popular. Now get off my lawn

Toy collector here: yes in the 90s and 00s there were a lot of Star Trek figures. They were heavily featured in ToyFare and they have lines going back to MEGO - which was one of the first boys toys action figure lines. Star Wars toys basically ended with Jedi and wouldn’t start up again in earnest until the prequels with the Power of the Force figures. Just because you don’t remember Star Trek having a large toy presence doesn’t mean they didn’t.

Ya know - something worth noting here is I was alive in the late 80s and Star Wars was absolutely not the cultural sensation it became. Lots of hype when it came out - then until [after] the prequels it was kind of a punching bag. Star Trek was bigger, honestly. People would frequently troll Star Wars fans by calling it Star Trek. There’s even a cold open in X-Files where Mulder mocks Star Wars. So this whole “Avatar has no impact” “Dune has no impact”. Um, give it a few more years.
