Okay, hmm, let me just get this right. Before university ever even started for me (I just got admission btw), my family reared turkeys, stubborn things that preferred sleeping on fences instead of their cages. And that bad habit had already cost us once, one turkey stolen overnight. So, you can imagine the panic when it was my turn to bring them in. They were already perched on the fence, acting like they owned the world. And as I reached for one, my right hand scraped across the edge of a sharp zinc sheet. In an instant, the pain exploded, but worse than that, the blood. Blood everywhere. My hand looked almost peeled open. And the turkeys? I forgot all about them. I bolted. I ran straight to my mum. She rushed me to a nurse, where I was stitched up, but the pain wasn’t just on my skin, it settled deeper. I cried for hours. Years have passed, but the scar is still there, like a little bookmark in my life. Sometimes I glance at it and smile at how a few stubborn turkeys managed to gift me a lifelong reminder. Even the ordinary evenings can turn into stories you’ll never forget. Here is the scar on my hand.
