Brandon Aiyuk didn't quit on the 49ers. They voided his guarantees, and he still returned to the team from July to October because he wanted to play. They never cleared him. They didn't want him to play. When that was clear, he left. He's not the bad guy.

@nickimoraa You have to understand that the schools policies are built around the most egregious offenders.... parents who probably should have their kids taken away by CPS. It's unfortunate, but true... it's also a bureaucracy that isn't built for nuance.

Schools need to be reminded that PARENTS have the ultimate authority over their children, if I don’t want my child there that day, THAT IS AN EXCUSED ABSENCE! Because I excused it, I don’t need permission from a doctor, a superintendent, or nobody for that matter. I’ll take them out of that school as quickly as I put them into it. If I want my child to be home, or I feel they need a break, or I want to take them on a trip. You can send their work home for the week. I think what children are learning at home, and outside of the classroom is equally as important as the fundamentals. I’m not going to surrender my children’s youth & their most influential years entirely to a school system! If they can’t accommodate that then so be it, I can teach my children how to read, and write & how to do math myself! The only benefit of a classroom is the interaction with other children & teachers, but as soon as that becomes contrary or in opposition to what I am teaching my children, or desire for them, It’s time for homeschooling! Don’t send me letters about attendance, or anything else for that matter! The school will never determine or dictate my children’s schedule. Because THEY are on MINE!

@FrankLuntz A large part of the problem is that our society as a whole no longer recognizes common ethical standards. Behavior is downstream of worldview and ethics. You can teach some behaviors in a vacuum, but historically it was mostly a product of our shared cultural values.

@teachthemx3 @SeaNmWhite While the pacing issue exists in any classroom, mixing in a reasonable degree of, "Will avoid doing work at all costs" type of student effectively breaks the system.

@SeaNmWhite Agree. Kids move at different speeds and that's fine. But there is a growing number of students who don't want to do any work at all.

The current format of schools: Teacher teaches a lesson then assigns practice. Some students finish in 10 minutes and sit for the remainder of class. Some finish by the end of class. Some finish at home or over multiple days. Some never do it. These students should not all be in the same class together.
