In light of recent events I’ve been looking at the number of major floods on local rivers over the last 30 years. It’s quite an eye opener. The last 5 years has seen around three times more than the preceding 6 five years. May even be time for a couple more!

79 chickens for every person in the upper Wye and Severn catchments. The proliferation of intensive poultry has been very rapid and essentially uncontrolled. Rising nutrient pollution is one result. theguardian.com/environment/20…
