Running this back because it's important to remember Solomon Mahlangu's death happened on this day in 1979 because the National Party government wanted to celebrate their invasion of African soil by way of a human sacrifice. White supremacy is witchcraft. Honour to Kalushi, always.
Zikhona Valela@valavoosh

Solomon Mahlangu was executed on this day in 1979 even though the court knew he was not responsible for the killings on Goch Street on 13 June 1977. His death took place on what was called Van Riebeeck Day, which marked the official arrival of the VOC on 6 April 1652.

A children’s theatre in Langa, Cape Town; built from what the city threw away. Acoustically brilliant. Community built. The best architecture doesn’t always start with new materials. 📍 Langa, Cape Town 🇿🇦 Architects: CS Studio Architects with Georgia Tech, PBSA & RWTH Aachen

Wits registration opens today and i am once again begging the humanities undergrads to consider taking African Literature. it offers some of the most rigorous training in the faculty bc it is multidisciplinary. the prescribed texts are the lens through which (art) history, (1/2)

The crux of my argument is that we need human oversight & transparency in the AI tools being used for screening job applications. The algorithms are designed on datasets that are biased so they replicate the discrimination from the past to find suitable candidates for the job(1/X

You know what infuriates me the most about these foolish things done by Panyaza & Co? These guys make us, as abantu abamnyama, look like asikwazi ukuphatha. Being in charge of government gives you immense power to make serious changes that improve the lives zabahlali. You just need to work within the bounds of the law and, where the law does not allow, you can change it directly or lobby to the proper authority to do so. You just need to take abahlali seriously and do things properly. These people really do not. 🚮

Men have this quiet sabotage phase when they’re done emotionally but lack the courage to say it. They start acting distant, or oddly indifferent, waiting for you to take the hint and walk away. Then they tell everyone, “She left me,” as though they hadn't orchestrated it.
💗@ma1ybe

my friend left her boyfriend of 3 years cause last night he quietly got up from the couch, went into the kitchen, measured out all the ingredients to make pancakes, made One Single Pancake, sat back down on the couch, ate it quietly, and did not even ask her if she wanted one

This is so infuriating in so many levels. If Minister @GaytonMcK and his department really cared about the LOCAL FASHION INDUSTRY, then they would’ve done their research and know that any endorsement to SHEIN is no good for local fashion industry.
Department of Sport, Arts and Culture@SportArtsCultur

#MemoryLaneMonday Minister Gayton McKenzie met with SHEIN on the margins of South Africa Focus Week in Singapore, 6 October 2025. As part of his official visit to Singapore for the South Africa Focus Week (SAFWS), Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Mr. Gayton McKenzie, held a strategic engagement with representatives from SHEIN, the global fashion brand and proud sponsor of the International Paralympic Movement. The meeting took place on the margins of SAFWS on 6 October 2025, and focused on potential areas of collaboration between SHEIN and South Africa’s creative, fashion, and sports sectors — particularly in supporting inclusive sporting initiatives and empowering young South African designers and athletes. Minister McKenzie welcomed SHEIN’s growing commitment to global social impact through sport and creative partnerships. He emphasised the importance of developing inclusive platforms that uplift persons with disabilities, as well as fostering opportunities for South African talent to engage with international markets and brands. This engagement forms part of a broader series of high-level meetings taking place during the third edition of South Africa Focus Week in Singapore, which runs from 6 to 11 October 2025, and showcases the best of South African business, culture, tourism, and innovation. #InspiringANationOfWinners
