The same reason there’s no “point” to any tattoos , or body mods or piercings . People get it because they like it or it means something to them. Blackout tattoos have a lot of different meanings behind them , either a coverup, a milestone of reaching new levels of life (it’s a way different experience than normal tattooing) or it’s to peice together already existing tattoos, cultural meanings to them too from multiple culture backgrounds , they also can just be aesthetic . Or the pain journey. Really it’s whatever it means to the owner of the tattoo . Personally ima get mine because I’ve always loved the process of them and it’s an addition final journey to my tattooing experience and goal.
