The horrific development in Minneapolis is the direct result of Trump/Miller’s hate-filled and lawless campaign. Their "us vs them" mentality is a direct threat to the safety of every American and designed to pit us against each other. This is abhorrent and it is not who we are.

But they (we, really) also didn’t decide the election in Texas. Latinos could have gone 80/20 in Texas and still wouldn’t have been enough. We’ve long said we’re not a monolith, and Latinos proved that this election. I’m trying hard not to feel a sense of shame, but it’s hard.

Been thinking about the Latino men vote, as a Latino man. We’ve seen erosion, especially along the border in Texas, so the results aren’t that surprising to me. It’s a group that’s been ignored. But let’s not deny the reality. Latino men, especially in Texas, chose extremism.

Regardless of results, the Texas Rio Grande Valley results should be a day of reckoning for Democrats. These are some of the poorest, most forgotten regions in the entire country, let alone the state. It's malpractice that it's gotten to the point where it has.

Equis will have precinct analysis once there is enough precinct data to get a read on Latinos in the battleground. Prepare for a long haul. Here’s part of our internal results tracker. Expect meaningful returns starting tomorrow for states where this matters most.

This is exactly why I ask myself, why does anybody care about candidate polling, outside of campaigns? How does the state of polling help an average voter make an informed decision and what purpose do the countless stories on polls serve? We’ve outgrown the need for them.
Nate Cohn@Nate_Cohn

A final point that I *hope* is obvious from the whole of my work, but may not be obvious if you only read individual snippets: I have no idea whether our polls (or any polls) polls be "right", too good for Harris, or too good for Trump. No one does.

Many don’t realize that the first people Hitler sent to his concentration camps weren’t everyday Jewish citizens, but his political opponents. So, when Trump rants about retribution, locking up his opponents, and giving them “very long sentences,” I can’t help but take him seriously… because history teaches us that is what fascist dictators do during their “Day One” period to consolidate their power. (After all, if you’re hellbent on staying in power but aren’t likely to win the next election, you can’t have your political opponents running around free.) To keep fascism out of our lives, vote for democracy!

America’s Voice (@AmericasVoice) has been tracking the opposition to mass deportation as well. See for example --> Key Finding: Americans Don’t Support Trump’s Mass Deportation When They Know The Details: americasvoice.org/press_releases…
Christian Paz@realcpaz

This didn't make it into our piece today, but new @DataProgress polling adds additional evidence for our argument: "Mass Deportation Is Actually Very Unpopular" Our story: vox.com/2024-elections… Their polling: dataforprogress.org/blog/2024/10/2…

This in reference to Vanessa Guillen, Army soldier murdered at Fort Hood in Texas, just in case you were wondering how little he really cares about us as Mexican-Americans in this country.
Yoni Appelbaum@YAppelbaum

Trump volunteered to pay for the funeral of a murdered U.S. soldier. When the bill came, Trump became angry. “It doesn’t cost 60,000 bucks to bury a fucking Mexican!” He turned to his chief of staff, Mark Meadows, and issued an order: “Don’t pay it!” theatlantic.com/politics/archi…
