@senatormelendez Nah, what Trump said was way out of line. We don’t need to excuse it or pretend like it was simply “daring to criticize.” You shouldn’t have to relinquish your brain to be a republican, either.

@zenahitz describes books as “sustained encounters with people whose agendas no longer matter” and I think about it all the time because it perfectly captures how reading is a relationship with uniquely freeing terms
BONESAW 🕊️@BonesawMD

Insane how you can just read the books and writings from the greatest minds to have ever graced this earth. In all of human history it has never been easier to do this. Still, most people will never even bother.

President Trump’s egregious post about Pope Leo was met with an incredible response: “I’m not afraid of the Trump administration.” My thoughts on @CNN this morning with @KateBolduan

Currently in a hotel room with my family before flying home tomorrow morning. Both children & husband are snoring. Loudly. Good time to prep for @CNN in the morning to discuss *gestures at everything*

@vitae_fortis @emzanotti He was president when it happened, though. The pope didn’t shut down the churches, either.

@_mary_pearson @emzanotti He did not. States closed the churches. In case you forgot, the federal govt is not responsible for state laws. And liberal states were the ones that closed churches.

I love sunrises and sunsets. Can you see the bands of color? They remind me of the scripture in Psalm 30, “weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” It seems darkest just before sunrise. I wish you all love and light. Goodnight from the @Space_Station.

I'm struck by the moving witnesses we've had from the dying in the past few months. James Van Der Beek's reminder that the sum total of who we are is being beloved by God, and this interview with Ben Sasse. Praise God for His grace. Pray for the dying.
Rod Dreher@roddreher

Ben Sasse has the face of Christ. His bloodied visage is the result of treatment for his pancreatic cancer; the new treatment might give him a few more months. Read or listen to the interview. It's staggering, this man's hope and faith. nytimes.com/2026/04/09/opi…

@emzanotti I mean Cardinal Pierre hasn’t been the nuncio since early March, so we knew it couldnt have been all that recent.

DOW Rapid Response@DOWResponse

Under Secretary of War for Policy Elbridge Colby @USWPColby had a substantive, respectful, and professional meeting with Cardinal Pierre, the then-Papal Nuncio, and his team on January 22, 2026. During the cordial meeting, they discussed a range of topics, including issues of morality in foreign policy, the logic of the U.S. National Security Strategy, Europe, Africa, Latin America, and other topics. Cardinal Pierre expressed his appreciation for the outreach and both sides looked forward to continued open and respectful dialogue. In light of grossly false and distorted recent reporting, the Department of War repeats its statement: Recent reporting of the meeting is highly exaggerated and distorted. The meeting between Pentagon and Vatican officials was a respectful and reasonable discussion. We have nothing but the highest regard and welcome continued dialogue with the Holy See.

When it comes to the dating of Easter, we look to the moon. So it’s kind of cool that Artemis happened to go to the moon during Holy Week & Easter.
