This year, we decided to catechise our teens all over again, and today I taught what means to be “In Christ”.
Four headings:
1. Who is Christ?
2. New Identity
3. New Family
4. New ways of living.
I don’t think I’ve ever done theological rigor like today, and the class came to life, they were asking questions about Jesus and how he fits in the timeline of scripture, to which we go from creation to new creation, why is Jesus the source of all life, to which we explore the miracles and Jesus’ ownership of all things.
We explored family and what it means to be part of a new family, with new rules, and what that means for how we live our lives now. From radical generosity and accepting suffering, to thinking of the World as God’s own, to which we must bring the world into acceptance of his Lordship.
We go through John Chapter 1:1-8 for this class, and I try to explain that this was John’s version of that meme with someone writing and fire coming from his pen, they didn’t understand this twitter meme, and once again, I was a fossil in their presence, it didn’t land.
John’s book was revolutionary, still is. He is actually saying the guy we killed was there in the beginning with God, and he is God. Claims that made them kill his master in the first place. So where does this conviction come from?
We recapped with an interesting question about suffering. “If God is good, why does he allow suffering in the world”
The answer isn’t ever simple, but I answered. There are many reasons why we suffer: consequences for our own errors, the fall of man and the steady decline of the world, and others we simply do not know which are for his glory sakes.
While we may not know why we suffer completely: we know it is not because God hates us, and we know he isn’t indifferent to our pain because he too suffers. And whatever it is, we can know that it is not designed to sink us to the depths, he has a plan that we do not know, and this is why we trust him.
We prayed for the kidnapped children, and that God comforts their families through this season of agony and despair. We sang Holy Forever as we closed the teaching. “All thrones and dominions, all powers and positions, your name stands above them all”.
I am incredibly glad and humbled to be doing the best work of my life; preparing the future with conviction of the truth of Jesus Christ.
Happy Sunday Folks.

American: So there are terrorists causing problems in your country, right?
Nigerian: Yes.
American: That's terrible. Is the government at least doing something about it?
Nigerian: Well, our president addressed the issue.
American: Oh. What did he say?
Nigerian: He spoke about the law of lawf in the holy book
American: ...The law of love?
Nigerian: I guess
American: Okay. Did you send the military after them?
Nigerian: Hmm... at times.
American: What do you mean "at times"?
Nigerian: Sometimes we've heard the military went after them. In some cases, the terrorists ended up killing military personnel.
American: Wait. They killed your soldiers?
Nigerian: Yes.
American: Okay, so then your government retaliated and finished them off, right?
Nigerian: Mm... nah.
American: What do you mean "nah"?
Nigerian: Well, our president also gave an example from the Bible about the prodigal son on how we should accept them with love.
American: Hold on. The prodigal son?
Nigerian: Yes.
American: I'm confused. So you're telling me terrorists killed military personnel, and the response was a Bible lesson?
Nigerian: Something like that.
American: So you guys aren't doing anything?
Nigerian: No, no. We're doing something.
American: Okay. What are you doing?
Nigerian: We're rehabilitating the ones we catch.
American: You're... rehabilitating them?
Nigerian: Yes.
American: Not prosecuting them?
Nigerian: Not according to our president, no.
American: WTF WTF WTF
Nigerian: I never even tell you anything, you don dey cry

Mr. Bobby Dennar needs your help to live. He needs a kidney transplant on both his kidneys and the doctors say it's urgent. Without this, a wife will lose her husband and their children will lose their dad.
