5 years back, I saw something that still hasn’t left me. A pregnant woman came in. Healthy. Smiling. No complications throughout her pregnancy. No “high-risk” label. No warning signs. The kind of case where the whole family walks in expecting just one thing: a baby’s cry. Her labour progressed well. Everything looked routine. And then… something happened so fast that it didn’t even feel real. She suddenly said: “I can’t breathe.” Not mild discomfort. Not anxiety. Real breathlessness. The kind that makes everyone in the room freeze for half a second before panic takes over. Her breathing became rapid. Her face changed. Her body started trembling. And within moments she collapsed. The room flipped instantly. From: “Almost done.” To: “CALL FOR HELP.” From: “Everything is fine.” To: “START CPR.” Machines started beeping. Oxygen was rushed. Lines were placed. Drugs were pushed. Seconds felt like minutes. And then the unthinkable happened. Despite everything… she couldn’t be saved. And then came the part that shattered everyone. The family saw a perfectly healthy pregnant woman walk in… and a dead body come out. They didn’t ask politely. They didn’t process slowly. They exploded. “How can a healthy woman die like this?!” “There were NO complications in the entire pregnancy!” “You doctors have killed her!” Some were crying. Some were shouting. Some were blaming anyone they could see. And honestly… I couldn’t even blame them. Because to a normal person, this doesn’t make sense. A normal pregnancy. A normal delivery. And then sudden death? It feels impossible. It feels like someone must have “done something wrong.” But the truth is… sometimes medicine witnesses something terrifying: A body can collapse like a switch has been turned off. I was just a new intern then, I asked my seniors and that day, I learnt the name of that nightmare. "Amniotic Fluid Embolism" And that’s when it hit me: We take pregnancy for granted because we only see the “happy ending.” But behind the scenes, a woman’s body is walking a tightrope every single day… and sometimes, everything can change within seconds... without any warning.

Nestlé has recalled these baby products. So before you mix that next bottle for your baby, read this thread carefully as it concerns their well being. If you feed your baby NAN, SMA, or Alfamino, a toxic bacteria has been found in some batches. And you might have it in your house right now. You see, Nestlé has issued a massive global recall for several baby formulas (products in the image above) because they found a toxin called Cereulide (from Bacillus cereus bacteria) in some batches. This toxin causes severe nausea and vomiting in babies. And the scary part is that boiling water does NOT kill it. The toxin is heat-resistant. So even if you prepare the formula correctly, if the powder itself is contaminated, your baby is at risk. Now, NAFDAC has not released a specific alert for Nigeria yet. BUT our markets are porous. And people import ‘UK SMA’ and ‘Imported NAN’ every single day. So if you buy your formula from supermarkets that stock imported goods, or you bought it abroad, you need to check the last stock to see if your tin look like any of those products. If yes, go to Nestle’s UK Website (SMA & Alfamino) and Nestle’s MENA Website (NAN) to verify if your batch does not fall under the recalled ones. If your batch code matches the ones on that list, please DO NOT USE IT. And please, don't keep this information to yourself. If you have a friend, sister, or neighbor who uses SMA, NAN, or Alfamino, retweet this or send this to them NOW. You might be saving a baby from poisoning today.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Damilola Balogun on the 1st of January 2026 😢 Damilola was a loving wife, a devoted mother, and the main applicant for her family on skilled worker visa. Just five months ago, she welcomed her beautiful baby into the world. What should have been a time of joy soon turned into a painful and tragic journey no family should endure. It all started when Damilola began complaining of severe migraines. She visited Walsall Manor Hospital, where she was treated and discharged. Three days later, she returned with the same symptoms, but no cause was found and she was sent home again. Two weeks later, the headaches persisted, and this time she was admitted. Doctors administered antibiotics and carried out an MRI scan and a lumbar puncture. The results revealed water on her brain, and Damilola was urgently referred to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, for surgery. The surgery was initially successful, and there was hope. Tragically, three days later, Damilola went into a coma and was placed on life support. Despite all medical efforts and prayers, it was confirmed that she could not recover. On the morning of 1st January 2026, the life support machine was switched off. While others were welcoming the first day of a new year in celebration, this family was plunged into unbearable grief. Damilola leaves behind three children aged 11 years, 10 years, and a 5month old baby, her husband, her mother and grandmother. Since this ordeal began, her husband has been unable to work, staying by her side throughout hospital admissions and recovery attempts. Their savings have been completely exhausted, and the family is now facing funeral costs and the immense responsibility of raising three children without their mother. We are humbly asking for your support; no amount is too small. Your donation will help: •Cover funeral and burial expenses •Provide immediate support for her children •Ease the financial burden on the grieving family Please consider donating and sharing this page. Let us come together to show this family that they are not alone during their darkest moment. Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and generosity. 🙏 gofund.me/a9b994ec2

MATERNAL DEATH AFTER CHILDBIRTH: A BITTER PILL FLUID IN THE BRAIN AFTER DELIVERY: HYDROCEPHALUS, CVT. THIS IS TOO PAINFUL😭 When Joy Is Interrupted: A Mother, a Headache, and the Silence That Followed I am so, so sorry for this family’s loss, and I say this not only as a gynae doctor, but also as a mother, and as a woman who understands how childbirth is meant to end with light and laughter, and not with hospital corridors and whispered prayers. This is a story of joy interrupted, of life arriving and then leaving too soon. To Damilola’s husband, her children, her mother and grandmother: there are no words strong enough for this kind of grief. To lose a wife, a daughter, a mother in the months after childbirth, when hope is supposed to be abundant, is a cruelty no family deserves. We mourn with you. After childbirth, a woman’s body does not simply return to normal; it recalibrates. Hormones shift, blood volume changes, and rare but dangerous risks quietly rise. The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists is clear: severe or persistent headaches in the postpartum period are never normal. When doctors speak of “water on the brain,” they are often describing hydrocephalus, an abnormal build-up of cerebrospinal fluid around the brain. Postpartyum, this can occur because fluid drainage becomes blocked, or because of infection, inflammation, or blood clots in the brain’s veins (CVT-Cerebral Venous Thrombosis), a recognised risk after delivery. As this fluid accumnulates, pressure inside the skull rises, and the body begins to speak in symptoms that are often misunderstood: headaches that do not ease, vomiting, visual disturbance, drowsiness. And if that pressure is not relieved in time, consciousness can fade, and coma can follow. Once scans confirm this diagnosis, urgent neurosurgery is not a failure, it is the correct and life-saving response, done to drain the fluid and give the brain room to breathe. The fact that surgery initially helped means there was hope, and that everything possible was being done. But sometimes and this is the most heartbreaking truth even when pressure is relieved, the brain has already suffered injury that cannot be reversed. Prolonged swelling, inflammation, infection, or clotting can leave the brain unable to recover. In those moments, machines may sustain the body, but the person we love is already slipping away. This was not “just a headache.” It was not a simple migraine. It was a rare, catastrophic postpartum neurological emergency. Damilola did nothing wrong. Her family did nothing wrong. This was a devastating medical complication that can unfold quietly and then cruelly, all at once. She should be here, holding her baby, guiding her older children, laughing with her husband, living the future she was promised. We grieve her, and we honour her. And we must keep saying this, again and again, so that other women may be saved: persistent headaches after childbirth are a medical emergency. To this family, you are not alone. May her soul rest in perfect peace.

57 Days in Captivity! Her husband was killed in captivity Ransom delivered, yet not released! We've begged the government, both Federal & Kaduna state, yet nothing! We've pleaded with the security agencies to do their job! Does the government always need foreign intervention to protect its citizens.

This is the groundnut of death💔💔💔. Those mouldy spots on it? They produce aflatoxins. Aflatoxins destroy the liver. They cause liver failure. They kill. 💔💔 You can’t wash them off. You can’t pick “good ones” out. If it’s mouldy, throw it away. Share aggressively. This is preventable.

Bro. If I ever become president, the first thing I’ll do is eradicate touts from the streets. A coca-cola truck broke down at Iyana ipaja and these bastards started harassing the driver and asking for money. The driver kept insisting he didn’t have money and the next thing they did was to start looting the truck. Even all those market women who hawk and sell by the roadsides too joined in the looting. The driver couldn’t do anything and just stood there watching them. Terribly terrible people.
