Writing is the soul’s essence. When it remains unfinished, life rushes in to complete it. Write first, and then live. 🩺 for life!

This is exactly my point!!! There's the IDEAL PRACTICE and the NIGERIAN PRACTICE. We're Nigerians! Let's not kid ourselves with that Endoscopy bs please. We know how we do things here. Unfortunately we're in a resource limited setting, so the the practice is not always "Gold Standard" due to certain factors beyond anyone's control. This is why there are alternatives that are good enough and clinically approved from decades of studies to make definitive diagnosis and aid patient care. Evidence suggests that Helicobacter pylori infection is the major cause and strongest risk factor for Peptic Ulcer disease in Nigeria. So why waste a patients time and money when there are other affordable tests that can strongly support your suspicion??? But hey, what do I know when it comes to clinical acumen???

if my spine snapped beneath the weight of my longing, i would still crawl toward the sound of your voice

Peptic ulcer disease is a structural problem. It means there is an actual breakdown or wound in the lining of the stomach or duodenum that extends deep into the tissue. Helicobacter pylori Infection is one major cause, but it is not the ONLY CAUSE. NSAIDs, excessive acid production, stress-related injury, and even malignancy can also lead to ulcer formation. That is why testing only for H. pylori is not the gold standard for evaluating peptic ulcer disease. Tests like the urea breath test or stool antigen test can only tell you whether H. pylori is present. They cannot show the ulcer itself, assess how severe it is, detect bleeding, or rule out other dangerous causes. If you focus only on H. pylori, you may miss the real problem and worsen the patient’s condition by treating incompletely.
