What's important about this is this clause in her deal doesn't actually benefit Taylor personally. UMG was already paying out artists for sales of their Spotify shares, but only artists who had already "recouped" their costs. That's Taylor and other big artists. So she would've gotten paid. But her deal made it so they now have to pay out all artists, even if they haven't recouped their costs yet. So this means smaller and newer artists. This was literally her looking out for the little guy.
