@mbrevda jsbin.com/pimirecuzo/1/e… - I've extended the scales draw method to draw a background here. Not the most elegant, but it works!

@mbrevda yep sorry for the delay. Not possible with the API currently but I'll see if I can show you a jsbin of extending the draw method.
