Loved these set of lectures by @a_kazemnejad and team on recreating the 'aha moment' from the deepseek paper, it was an absolute treat to watch these guys tackle the problems in real time (and I got to see them use vllm, which was fun). Gonna spend sometime this week to recreate this and share my journey as a blog post or a series of tweets :). It's always nice to spend sometime on things that aren't related to my work and just enjoy learning.

@JadeCole2112 wasnt that the whole point, and wasnt that what we're all pretending to do?

Is it just me, or are smart people spending an inordinate amount of time trying to get this stuff to do what they themselves have been doing for years?

@baldwin_IVth Oh, we did so many tests for that, Haiku 4.5 and Gemini 3.1 pro are the only SOTA models that can output very very long texts with decent instruction following rn

Summary - Generational Fumble in the coding questions. Fucking amazing performance in theoretical part. Even better performance in the product system design part. My feeling - IDK. It's not in my hands now. Like I am literally praying that I hear back positively, but if I don't I know that I tried all that I could. We learn and we move boys, we learn and we move.

x.com/lossfunk/statu… You should test it on strudel language. It generates music. It is also Turing complete. And you can vibe test it by actually partying together. Although seriously speaking the more interesting question there would be decomposing human music taste through language. That is quite esoteric even for humans. I tried making a Claude skill for that over many iterations, it does get the music taste and vibe from examples. But it struggles with getting the rhythm right. And do the evolution loop has to close either with recursion of evolution. Did you try any such self referencing prompting techniques for these ? I see a section on self scaffolding but not in prompt strategy anything specific. Anyway. Great work. Posted on WhatsApp but also posting this here again. Great work lossfunk team, I know some of you but not Aman and Paras. I love the focus on non obvious optimizations that happen with not directly optimizing for a metric. So proud. 🥲

🚨 Shocking: Frontier LLMs score 85-95% on standard coding benchmarks. We gave them equivalent problems in languages they couldn't have memorized. They collapsed to 0-11%. Presenting EsoLang-Bench. Accepted to the Logical Reasoning and ICBINB workshops at ICLR 2026 🧵

@saxenauts we did try self scaffolding (you can go through our codebase to find and run it), we are working on agentic models with custom harness and specialized prompt engineering that can do much better (still not really well and are inefficient).

@dhruvtrehan9 should we collaborate to create an AGENTIC HARNESS 101 course ? 😄 The community could really use that.

Lads, I have a new thing to work towards now. So, it turns out that the basketball with 2 legs (@shreyadoesstuff ) can manage to have a good idea once a month. And it was her suggestion to try and interface the PS4 controller directly with the BeagleBone Black. Now, the board does not have an inherent bluetooth peripheral, but it does support a USB Host. So, i'mma simply hook up the USB dongle to the USB host, and try to interface the controller that way. Now, the challenge here would be read the incoming data from the PS4, and I'm hoping that it turns out to be a bit of a headache, so that I can actually scratch my brain while I try and get this done. Either way, should be fun!
