I've been building a search engine for 2 years. It handles English, French, and other European languages perfectly. Then I tried to add Ewe, my language, and I discovered the tools to make it work don't exist. Today, Ghana is 69! So I wrote about this. x.com/delali/status/…

The National Service Authority (NSA) has held an orientation session for Ghanaian volunteers selected to embark on a volunteering mission to Togo under an exchange programme aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and knowledge transfer. The programme forms part of the Development of National Volunteering Ecosystems in Africa (DENVA) initiative and is being implemented in partnership with Agence Nationale du Volontariat au Togo (ANVT) and France Volontaires, which is leading the DENVA programme across Africa. Delegation Introduced At the session, Mr. Josiah Lomotey, Head of the National Volunteer Service at the NSA, formally introduced the delegation. Among them were Mr. John Peperouyem, Attaché at the Embassy of Togo in Ghana; Philippe Feray, Communications and Partnership Officer, FR Ghana, Fofogan Yawo Apalelete Doku, Coordinator, France Volontaires. Participants Urged to Represent Ghana with Excellence Delivering his remarks, the Deputy Director-General in charge of Finance and Administration, Hon. Fuseini Donkor, advised the participants that they are not only representing themselves but also the National Service Authority and Ghana as a whole. He described the exchange programme as both a knowledge transfer initiative and a cultural exchange platform, encouraging volunteers to collaborate closely with their host institutions and communities. He urged them to learn, adapt and immerse themselves in the Togolese culture while upholding Ghana’s values and integrity. Hon. Donkor assured the participants of the Authority’s commitment to their welfare, including remuneration, safety and continuous support throughout the programme. Emphasis on Cultural Sensitivity and Discipline The Deputy Director-General in charge of Operations and Programmes, Colonel Moses Dok Nach Kpeungu, highlighted the importance of understanding cultural differences and respecting local norms. He encouraged participants to associate well, conduct themselves appropriately and learn from the positive aspects of their host country. Colonel Kpeungu expressed optimism that the volunteers would excel and assured them of the NSA’s full support until the successful completion of the programme. Strengthening Ghana–Togo Relations Mr. John Peperouyem, Attaché at the Embassy of Togo in Ghana, noted that the exchange programme would strengthen relations between Ghana and Togo while fostering mutual growth. He encouraged the participants to take the opportunity seriously, learn diligently and create pathways for future volunteers. He assured them of warm hospitality, good meals and a supportive environment in Togo, adding that both Togolese and Ghanaian participants would benefit from shared experiences and knowledge. Promoting Volunteering Across Africa The Ghana–Togo exchange is a key component of the DENVA programme, which seeks to develop and strengthen national volunteering ecosystems across Africa. Through collaboration between the NSA, ANVT and France Volontaires, the initiative aims to promote cross-border learning, cultural understanding and sustainable development through volunteerism. The orientation session reaffirmed the NSA’s commitment to empowering Ghanaian volunteers to serve with excellence while deepening regional partnerships for development.

ENGAGEMENT UNDER THE FEED GHANA PROGRAMME The Management of the National Service Authority has held a strategic meeting to discuss collaboration under the Government’s flagship Feed Ghana Programme, following an official communication from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA). MoFA, through the Feed Ghana Secretariat, extended its compliments to the Authority and outlined opportunities for partnership under the national agricultural transformation agenda. Promoting Institutional Farming As part of the Government’s flagship FEED GHANA PROGRAMME, the Ministry is promoting Institutional Farming as a strategic approach to: Enhancing national food production Strengthening food security Advancing Ghana’s food self-sufficiency agenda Creating sustainable employment opportunities The initiative encourages public institutions, including tertiary institutions and state agencies, to actively participate in structured farming activities to support domestic food production. NSA’s Strategic Role Management of the National Service Authority deliberated on how National Service Personnel (NSPs) can be effectively deployed to support the programme. Discussions centered on: Integrating agricultural placements into the service scheme Partnering with institutions that have arable land for cultivation Providing technical supervision in collaboration with MoFA Building agribusiness skills among Service Personnel The engagement reflects NSA’s continued commitment to contributing meaningfully to national development priorities. Way Forward The Authority is expected to work closely with the Ministry and relevant stakeholders to develop a framework that aligns national service deployment with the objectives of the Feed Ghana Programme. Further updates will be communicated to stakeholders as implementation modalities are finalized.
