The National Service Authority (NSA) has held a pre-campus orientation programme for final-year students of the University of Cape Coast at the NEC Auditorium on 14th May 2026, aimed at preparing students ahead of their national service registration and deployment process. The orientation was organised under the directive of the Director-General of the National Service Authority, who tasked her two Deputies together with the Deployment, Regional and MIS teams to engage and educate students on the processes and requirements of national service. Dignitaries present at the programme included Deputy Director-General for Operations, Lieutenant Colonel Moses Dok Nach Kpeungu; Deputy Director-General for Finance and Administration, Hon. Donkor Fuseini; Head of Deployment, Yaw Tweneboah Koduah; Head of MIS, John Apraku; the Dean of Students Affairs of UCC; Acting Central Regional Director of NSA, Abdul Karim Rahman; as well as staff of the NSA Central Regional Office. In his opening remarks, Acting Central Regional Director, Abdul Karim Rahman, welcomed participants and encouraged students to take the orientation seriously as they prepare to transition into national service. Speaking at the event, Lieutenant Colonel Moses Dok Nach Kpeungu highlighted the history and importance of the National Service Authority and outlined the requirements students must meet before commencing service. He cautioned students against reposting and advised them to accept postings to their assigned organisations since all postings are streamlined towards their area of academic focus. He further encouraged students to prepare for the mandatory six-week basic military training programme. Hon. Donkor Fuseini addressed concerns relating to the registration process and data mismatch challenges experienced by the current service personnel batch. He urged students to ensure that all discrepancies relating to their personal information are resolved before the NSA portal is opened for registration. The Head of Deployment, Yaw Tweneboah Koduah, took students through the registration procedures, including the processes required to obtain an NSS PIN code and complete the registration for their NSS numbers. Head of MIS, John Apraku, also educated students on issues relating to name and email mismatches, stressing the need for accuracy during registration to avoid future complications. The Dean of Students Affairs of UCC also spoke on student registration matters and encouraged students to comply with all requirements of the National Service Authority. Additionally, the Regional Accountant reiterated the commitment of the Director-General towards the welfare of service personnel. He noted that the Authority has successfully transitioned payment systems from E-zwich and GhanaPay to direct bank account payments to ensure easy access to allowances. He also highlighted the availability of the Absa Bank overdraft support for personnel.

In a significant move to repurpose seized assets for national development, Colonel Dominic Buah, the Director of Operations at the National Anti-illegal Mining Operations Secretariat, has officially handed over a total of 100 pumping machines to the National Service Authority. The equipment, which was confiscated during targeted enforcement operations against illegal mining sites has been redirected from illicit activities to support large-scale agricultural production. The pumping machines were officially received by Ms. Ruth Dela Seddoh, the Director-General of the National Service Authority accompanied by her two deputies, during a brief but symbolic ceremony. In her remarks, Ms. Seddoh emphasized that the repurposed equipment will play a critical role in the Authority’s ambitious agricultural drive, which seeks to cultivate 20,000 acres of maize and 10,000 acres of tomatoes in the coming days. This initiative is designed to directly support the government’s flagship FEED GHANA Project, an agricultural transformation program aimed at enhancing food security, reducing import dependency, and creating jobs for young Ghanaians, including newly deployed national service personnel.

A productive engagement in the Volta Region. The Board of Directors of the National Service Authority, led by Board Chairman Okai Mintah and Director-General Ruth Dela Seddoh, paid a courtesy call following their Board meeting. The visit also formed part of a tour of NSA farms, aimed at strengthening agricultural initiatives, creating opportunities for young people, and advancing youth development in the region. The Authority donated GHS 50,000 to the Volta Youth Development Fund, which will support skills development and economic participation for the youth. Together, we remain committed to deepening collaboration for youth empowerment, agricultural growth, and national development in the Volta Region.
