@_olsen10 @woodwardsports I know players do this type of talking but I personally think Taylor was out of line with this. Lions tried to ask for less. People were wanting him cut in general. Lions wanted to retain him and he didn’t want to restructure. Publicly stated he asked to be released. Karma man.

I really don’t understand why Lions fans are piling on Taylor Decker? He’s never been one to complain and he hasn’t made a big deal over his exit, it feels like the fanbase are the only people emotional about the whole situation. I appreciate Taylor Decker’s 10 seasons.

Am I crazy to think the Lions are not obligated to reach out to a player who asked to be released? What would be the point? Decker said he doesn’t want to be here. That’s it. Move on. Idk how this is such a big story.

The fact that decker had a Detroit beat reporter fly to Arizona to try and stir the pot is definitely a red flag… like how common is that for a player to have a beat reporter fly out to their home? @ChrisSalts Taylor wanted back, Lions wanted him back, they just had a disagreement on what the price he should play at. You’d expect the Lions brass to talk to him and say “love ya bud, but can’t bring you back at that price, we appreciate all you’ve done” but nope. Just crickets.

@PrideOfDetroit I just don’t see the issue. Lions would bring him back but made a business decision to ask for a pay cut. Taylor said no and asked for a release so Lions moved on I am a huge Taylor fan and wanted him back but a cut was needed It’s part of the game and every team does this.

@aratfullofrage @DerySpeaks It didn’t have to be brutal. They made it that way. They needed to have a heart to heart and explain to him where they were at. He never got that. Then didn’t hear from them afterwards thanking him for his time as a Lion. There’s no way to frame this in a good light for the Org.

@DerySpeaks maybe they could've handled it better but i just think it comes down to them not wanting to pay decker what he was asking knowing his availability issues, and their cap constraints. it was going to be brutal either way.

@DerySpeaks @CarmodyDenis Call him for what? Just to say hi? They seem to have moved on by signing Borom so I don’t think a reunion is in the cards. I have to assume they thanked him for his effort throughout the years when they decided to part ways. Does Decker want them to beg him to come back?
