What on earth are Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael doing locking the protesters out of the talks, talks that are meant to be about addressing the fuel crisis.   They  are making an absolute shambles of things - escalating this crisis instead of doing their job. They need to lift the phone, engage with the protesters and hear what they have to say.  The priority has to be ending the protests, getting fuel prices down and doing this as quickly as possible.

Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael need to meet with the agricultural contractors, farmers and hauliers who are out on protest due to rising fuel prices which have people under huge pressure. Sneers and threats from government need to stop. If the government had listened to Sinn Féin weeks ago, all of this would have been avoided. Their half measure were never going to work. Prices are too high, way beyond what people can afford. We need prices to come down. The Dáil should be sitting to pass the emergency measures needed.

any mention that they're protesting due to the taxes on the fuel and not the bare price of fuel gets downvoted to oblivion

🚨 Sinn Féin voted against Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael tonight. Their proposals on petrol and diesel didn’t go far enough and they abandoned households relying on home heating oil. Our amendment, which they opposed, would have cut diesel by the maximum and cut petrol by the same amount and would have removed excise entirely from home heating oil. That’s the type of support that workers and families needed tonight and we’re not settling for anything less.
