We implemented @karpathy 's MicroGPT fully on FPGA fabric. No GPU. No PyTorch. No CPU inference loop. Just a transformer burned into hardware, generating 50,000+ tokens/sec. The model is small, but the idea is not: inference does not have to live only in software 👇

I'm 18 and building ML for battery materials discovery. Just made a model to predict ionic conductivity 22% better than the published benchmark!

9 years @Shopify today 🎉✨ while i'm still not 100% what my job is, i'm 100% sure that i'm doing important work, in the right place, with the right people what a privilege 💚

I built and trained a ~6M parameter GPT-2 entirely from scratch in C++, and it actually generates English text with mostly correct grammar! No PyTorch and no external dependencies. Just pure C++ 20. More info, GitHub link, and screenshots below!

Been waiting a long time to share this one. Introducing dnaHNet, a tokenizer-free genomic foundation model that learns its own segmentation end-to-end: • up to 6× higher throughput than StripedHyena2 at long contexts • beats it zero-shot on variant effects + gene essentiality • rediscovers codons and functional regions on its own So grateful to @arnavshah0, @Radii2323, @adibvafa, and the rest of the team. A special thank you to @_albertgu, @genophoria, and @BoWang87 for the mentorship. Couldn't have done it without you. 🫡
Arc Institute@arcinstitute

Most genomic AI models use fixed rules to process DNA into chunks, imposing arbitrary boundaries on a sequence with its own biological structure. @arnavshah0, @victor_ljz, and team developed dnaHNet, a tokenizer-free foundation model that learns its own segmentation from scratch, supervised by @_albertgu, @genophoria, and @BoWang87.

had some fun the past few days going down a game theory rabbit hole with the prisoner’s dilemma. it’s weird how often what feels rational individually ends up being terrible collectively. i also extended the classic iterated setup with three of my own strategies: - eleanor: cooperative at first, then locks into defection after repeated betrayal - nadia: a dynamic trust system that adapts on the fly - mara: llm native strategy that scores history and responds accordingly ran a full 200-round round-robin tournament and eleanor still swept. kind of wild that even advanced agents couldn’t beat simple, robust conditional cooperation.

It’s time for an upgrade in retail energy. Today we’re announcing Base Energy, bringing our low energy prices to all Texans who can choose their electricity provider. When we started Base, we set out to deliver affordable, reliable power by building low-cost distributed power plants powered by modern technology and vertical integration. Less than two years from our public launch, we’re adding more MW per month to the Texas grid than anyone. Now we’re able to share the benefits of that growing battery fleet with customers across Texas. This is the first step in building the world’s largest energy retailer. We are just getting started.
Base Power@basepowerco

Today we're announcing Base Energy, a new electricity plan open to any Texan that can choose their provider, battery or not. Most Texans say they’re happy with their electricity provider. Our data shows 7 in 10 are overpaying and can save with our new plan. The reason is structural: our battery fleet generates revenue by supporting the Texas grid, and we pass those earnings back as a low, fixed rate that's guaranteed below market average, now and at renewal. Renters, apartment tenants, homeowners not yet ready for a battery: if you're in Texas and can choose your provider, you're eligible. Affordable, reliable power for all. That's the mission, and today we're a lot closer.

Visionmaxxing at @merakiatuoft! Some clips from my demo at Meraki’s last event this semester. Awesome as always to see people try these lenses in-person and experience the effects for themselves :) Thanks @_richapandya for hosting and letting me demo! 👀 For those in Toronto and SF this month: I’m putting together my last Toronto vision enhancement demo at UofT on April 7 and will be setting up the vision study in SF shortly. If you want to try these or participant in the study, links to both down below ⬇️
