Yesterday, I stood in a labor room watching a woman fight for her life. She arrived too late — a ruptured uterus. No antenatal visits. No hospital check-in. Handled by traditional health worker. Her attendants kept repeating one sentence: “Doctor, it’s God’s will.” They said it when she fainted. They said it when her bleeding worsened. They said it even when she slipped away. But this wasn’t God’s will. This was preventable!!

checked my mother’s Bp and told her its 120/80 to which she replied “But umer (my brother , who is a civil engineer ) checked 10 minutes ago and its 130/80 “ 😭😭 All these years of my life in medicine and my mother still does not trust me as a doctor 😭😭

Today, I stepped into the OT not just as a resident —but as a surgeon. I scrubbed in, heart racing but hands steady. Made the incision. Found the bleed. Controlled it. (A ruptured ectopic pregnancy.) 👸🏻✨💪 The first real moment when it’s all on you.
